  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The single best buy...

It is hard to believe what a RED ONE with an MX sensor can be purchased for. One can own the same camera that shot "The Social Network" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" for next to nothing.

Just sayin'.

I recently DPed a feature with Epic as A cam and R1 as B. They both cut nicely and the R1 performed flawlessly..

:)

Yep. Just gotta use it.

The second-hand market is very important in the cinema business. Red should provide a way to purchase a warranty for all these cameras, it would be nice. Because owning a $4,000 used Red One which may cost $6,000 in repairs is something quite scary ;-)

Anyway, the cheaper it gets, the better ;-) So Jim, any price adjustments in sight on Scarlet and Epics ? ;-)

Mark... I have always liked you. :-)

The RED ONE MX is just about all anyone would ever need to shoot a major feature. There still isn't another camera to beat it. Well... I guess EPIC is the exception. :-)

And then there is EPIC Dragon. Good thing these are all upgrades.

We have only made two cameras... who would have thought?

Jim

And there is more coming for the price of an upgrade instead of a new model...

i have to say that it's the spirit of RED that drives me to create my small budget, personal films and the size of the epic has made that easier and better quality.

the stuff I am documenting on a weekly basis will be usable well into the future. To think we were still shooting SD only less than ten years ago.

Echoing what mark has said about praise, i have to say, you leapfrogged HD and you sought out the "wild ones" to come along. For that I thank you.

long live R3D.

Tell that to the other manufacturers: It's only two cameras you need to make:

First the best and then ... a better one.

Damn, I love what you did!

Two of the best purchases I have ever made. Actually, if you figure in the trade in deal, I only bought the second one and you let me borrow the first one for 4-1/2 years. ;-)

best deal was 1k for a reservation in april of 2006...nothing compares to that...just saying.

Who would have ever thought that a company would pay someone back, pretty much in full, for the camera they bought over a year ago to buy the better camera today? I feel like RED loaned me a scarlet to work with while I saved an additional 10k so I could step up to an Epic just over a year later. Then factor in the fact that everything I have purchased to make my scarlet run smoothly works perfectly with my new epic. I can afford to make my little films, at the quality I desire, and no one can get in my way. All I can say, is thank you.

Jim, I pride myself in knowing, with nothing more than your word, that you were on to something. So much so that I did something seemingly stupid... I bought two R-1s on a shoestring. They are soon to be two Dragons... still on somewhat of a shoestring. '-)

The R1 always was, but when sold out form RED recently and still as used one now it is truly "THE BEST BUY EVER"... Oh and it still does KICK some serious A&$%# image quality, even in it's original Sensor...

No need to add anything more!!
