What lens would you pick for a Scarlet Canon mount if it was to be your only lens? Not just canon lens any lens that fits?

I would say the Canon 16-35 L and later on I would pick up the Canon 70-200 L ISll... The 24-70 is a very nice lens but keep in mind if you're using a matte box that lens is going to be a problem because it's a telescoping lens.

Zoom or prime ?

1. Canon 24-105mm F4 L IS USM.
2. Canon 50mm F 1.2 L USM.

Any

Looking for the best all around single lens.

I'm coming from 35L 50L 85L Red 18-50 my loved ones had to carry the RED purchase.....
So I'm looking for a sweet lens that has all the attributes of the listed lens, mission impossible :sneaky2:

Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 G :aureola:

what about the Canon 28-300mm L IS series zoom?

Actually, I have one. It's on the slow side, it isn't Canon's best lens, and the trombone action zoom makes it pretty useless except as a variable prime... BUT the 11x coverage in a fairly small package makes it my one go anywhere, do anything lens...

Right now I have

Rokinon 35 1.4
Canon 20-35L
Canon 85 1.8

They all have caveats, the 85 seems to hunt for ever, the 20-35 is loud as hell and the rokinon, well the rokinon just isn't as smooth as a zeiss:001_unsure:
So what then? Am I too picky? I haven't had much time using them... Though it only took a few minutes with 35L 50L 85L.... Is the autofocus
going to be worth it on this camera?

cool. Your the first person I've heard of using that lens. I was always curious if anyone used it for Epic/Scarlet.

If you leave the lens hood on the 24-70 then it doesn't telescope as far as a matte box would know. That's the only way to roll with that lens.

Haha I was just going to say the same.

Of the lenses I own?
Lomo 20-120mm

The Red 18-85 would be tempting too.

You can get a very complete set of Canon glass for the price of one RED 18-85. Plus, the set wouldn't weigh more than that single lens…

I just bought the tamron 17-50mm and i'm impressed by this lens.
