Colin S started a similar thread in another section that is petering out. So I thought I'd give it a new title and location and see if this flies.

In past years, Redusers have posted their comments on what booths they feel they must visit and why: new products, new staff, new prices, show specials, whatever. Last year we had Leica and Alexia. In 2008 the then new Angenieux Rouge was exciting. Without sharing the obvious Red booth, what do you guys think will be the go-to booths this year--and why?

For example, I hear that Sonosax is coming out with a new product to run circles around the 788t. So Sonosax is a must on my list.

I'd be curious to know more about what's hot and what's coming ... of course I'm going to check out Bandpro and the Leicas, OConnor, Arri and the other cinema gear companies -- but would love to know what everyone else things is going to be hot. Thanks :)

Thought i'd chime in and say while your checking out the RED booth in the South Lower hall, we'll also be there doing The RC Podcast live again this year in "The Post Pit' from 12.30-4pm on Tuesday 12th

We'll be discussing new gear announcements and discuss shooting with EPIC with guests Tom Lowe, Tyler Ginter and Stu Maschwitz up on stage.

We'll be at the back of the South Lower hall, 12.30-4pm, Tuesday 12th.

Be great to see you there

I'm interested in all things Thunderbolt. AJA, Black Magic, Storage. I'm hoping Canon has an announcement, with the 5D sensor in a cinema camera (not holding my breath though) Anything Lenses, Matteboxes, support gear, Follow Focuses, etc.

Avid should be worth a look, with MC5.5 further opening up with AJA. Anything and everything Thunderbolt. Also, an eye needs to be kept peeled for anything from Apple. Can't be a coincidence that all this chatter about FCP8 grows just before NAB

Kessler Crane mentioned they'll be at the Zacuto booth. I have their crane and slider and am hoping to get my hands on the Oracle Motor Control and Revolution Head while there, assuming they are demoing them...

RED RED RED, this is obvious but I am very very interested in the Epic-s (lite). It will be the most revolutionary camera in the next two years technology, form factor and price.

Every major software and support system out there will be made to work with it. With the HDSLR explosion, the ability to use current canon focusing technology and the all the accessories out there, it will definitely change the game. I will bet $500 on this. The excitement over recent mediocre cam-tech releases by the competition is every indication that the Epic-s will overshadow the mega release of the Epic-x. Multiply 8000 Red1's sold by tenfold.

I will also love to know what little plugins Redgiant software is cooking up. I look forward to a new version of Looks.

I am also dying to see what Adobe is cooking up even more than FCP

For lighting all the new color temperature changing Led products.

Thanks for posting this Jason. The Post Pit was one of my favorite spots from last year. I'm glad I have the opportunity to actually see the schedule before the show this time, I just wandered upon it last year so I missed a few talks that interested me. I really am looking forward to meeting and hearing Tom Lowe speak about his process and workflow.

It's been my experience that you can order stuff but not too many booths have stock to walk away with. Unless you are looking to purchase small items. It seems everyone has "show" pricing though. So to save a few bucks place that order!

Not to hijack, but on that front, as a past NAB exhibitor, unless you have the state tax issues dealt with, it's a no no to actually distribute physical goods on the show floor. (It does happen though)

Philip, it's my understanding that NO floor sales are allowed. NAB is not set up for security to see what is going out, legally or illegally. Though it does happen. I don't think it's a tax issue since NV doesn't have a sales tax. I almost bought a jib/crane in 2008 off the floor. Mechanics were that they would take it out of the show and turn it over to me outside. Problem on my side is that I would have had to take the time to rent a truck or find a shipper in a very short period of time. It was a great deal that got away.

Angenieux is another booth for me to see. At Cinegear last year, they told me that they would have more lenses coming out "soon."

Hey Tim,

Again, not to hijack, but I think you might be confusing income with sales tax in NV. There is no state income tax, but there is a sales tax on goods purchased in state, if you take delivery. It's a paperwork hassle for companies to set up, so they don't do it usually.

Here is some new rumor about Canon.

"5D Mark III External Recorder?
A tipster said the prototype 5D Mark III or similar body is being tested with an external recorder capable of recording RAW video. He was unsure whether or not it was a Canon accessory or a 3rd party product.

DEFINITELY interested in seeing this as well.

Hey thanks for resurrecting the thread!

So so far we have Sonosax, Bandpro, Leicas, Oconnor, The Post Pit, AJA, Black Magic, Avid, Zacuto, Adobe, Angenieux, Canon, and general storage and cine accessories.

Is Red going to have an event this year? Will there be presentations at the Red booth?

I'm wondering what Avid will have. Are they going to be showcasing MC 5.5 or are they going to be discussing MC 6. And what about DS and Symphony roadmaps? Very curious/interested.
