  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Must See Booths at NAB 2011 and Why

Kessler Crane will be there. Not sure if they have their own booth or sharing with Zacuto, but they are hoping to bring a new toy :)

I love Kessler! They mentioned on Facebook that they are indeed sharing with Zacuto. What kind of new toy? Or have they not spilled the beans yet?

Not sure if Kessler wants people to know yet or not, so I'm not talking. It would be worth a visit to the Zacuto booth... just in case :)

Last year several booths I stopped at were selling off the floor. Camera bags and less expensive tripods were flying out of there.

I am a Canon dealer in Dallas, so....if I get to get out of the office.....I am excited to see what, if anything they will be announcing. They tend to keep the good info just out of reach to us dealers until the very last second......

I hope that Canon steps up with something nice. I also like products like Rimage. They have an awesome archiving solution.....and they are parked right next to RED!!!

I'm hoping to see some more Zeiss Compact Primes in the CP.2 line with larger apertures for the 18mm & 25mm to match the rest of the line. I need to buy a set of PL primes, and I'm going for something lightweight and affordable like the Compact Primes.

Even better would be a set of lightweight Red prime lenses - something a lot lighter than the RPPs, perfect for the Epic.

I dont think there is a Red party

I think the Red Party is a maybe at this point. There's been rumours of one, but no one has said a definite yes or no as far as I've seen - they're probably trying to find a location at a decent price...

I'm interested in all things Thunderbolt. AJA, Black Magic, Storage. I'm hoping Canon has an announcement, with the 5D sensor in a cinema camera (not holding my breath though) Anything Lenses, Matteboxes, support gear, Follow Focuses, etc.

I will be asking EVERYONE that doesn't have plans for Thunderbolt, why the hell not. The more ubiquitous it becomes in gear, the cheaper it will be to implement everywhere. With 10 gb/s speed to start with, it blows USB 3.0 out of the water.

I would hope I'm not alone in asking every exhibitor possible when they will be doing something with thunderbolt.

at the risk of soundling like an ad... (even though it is all free)

You guys are all welcome at the live recording of The RC podcast at NAB. Tuesday afternoon.

Jason and I along with film makers like Stu Maschwitz, Tyler Ginter and others are taking over the postpit booth, South Lower Hall Tuesday afternoon from 2pm.
(This is before by the annual massive - epic, fxphd pool party - for fxguide insider and fxphd members).

We'll have our EPIC there filming on Steadicam. Last year Ted was a guest and I think people enjoyed it ... This year should be fun as Stu , Jason and I will discuss "the Impossible shot", shooting with the EPIC, Shooting in NZ with EPIC on Gyros and lessons we learnt - we'll be showing footage and how we dealt with it.
Plus giving away stuff....

The Post Pit is booth number SL9126. Tuesday 2pm onwards.

Let me make a prediction that Sony will be having nothing to do with Thunderbolt. They'll be wanting you to be using "Sonybolt"... or some other BS propriety connection.

I'll definitely be there Mike. Last year, I stumbled upon the Post Pit and found it very educational and engaging. I'm glad to hear FX will be back this year with more great sessions.

Does this mean no RC until NAB? I hope not - I've been looking forward to hearing more about your first few weeks!

The RC makes my hour commute each week much more bearable. Thanks for the hard work and hours you put in guys!
