  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Movi from Freefly

I can't wait to see all those bulked up Red owners trying to operate one of these at arm's length with a 20lb Red hanging off it. Better practice your pull-ups, gentlemen :-)

It's going to go on my Steadicam arm where appropriate, but I am a 6ft dude who goes to the gym. I might've been a bit ambivalent otherwise.

Tabb, the guy who invented it, who operates it in the videos - he seems to be 6.5 or something!

It won't be 20lb. I believe this unit max's out at 10. There is a 20lb model in the works but it will be a while and cost a good deal more.

BTW! I will add some video tomorrow of the remote control in action with the movi on wheels.

Careful with that word "game changer"....

Cinema is way more than just a collection of cool shots.

So I don't really think the game has changed.
And if anyone can now effortlesly now do cool shots.
Then what present value they have now....will be much less in the future.

If you could make Gold w/ an alchemy kit in your garage.
The value of Gold would be much less.

++++12 (FB Like) :)

Then again, we have to remember there's taste involved deciding when to shoot such a shot too... not just because you can. I just hope we're not entering the "Casio keyboard" decade of Cinema with everyone having access to all of these tools. Then again, where are all the new Symphonies and Operas.... and quality screenplays!!!

Ordered also and got the order number 1016. Would be nice to know if there are 15 people ahead of me or more than a thousand.

Anyway, if anybody gets his MoVi before June 10th (and I havent) I want to rent it for three solid weeks in Germany.

Cheers,

Jochen

Pretty sure that's just their numbering system - digit place holders in the system - so you start it with a 1 because 0001 isn't a valid number mathematically.

20lb? Fah!

Being a fireman has to be good for something ;-)

Saw the Movie at SuperMeet, very impressed!

Can I ask what time you got the confirmation email - just want to gaugue the rate of uptake.

I am 07 and my email from paypal came through at 5:11 UTC+10

I am in Denver, Colorado and ordered this morning at 6am. Judging by your last post Brett, you only ordered about 5 hours ahead of me. That's insane how fast they sold 1000 pre-orders. Honestly, I'm not expecting to get mine for at least a year. Hot products like this always get held up. I know people still waiting for their Black Magic camera!!

For those of you who ordered the M10, how do you plan on building your cameras? How will you get a lens, wireless follow focus, wireless video out and battery to come in under 10 lbs? Not to mention a matte box. I assumed Epic owners were stuck waiting for the M20, but I'd love to be wrong!

Pretty sure the counting started at 1001, because I ordered within one minute of the tweet from Vincent, and a guy at 12 tweeted 20 minutes later about his order just going through. I would guess by 24 hour mark there would be 100-150 orders.

From what I can tell, the 10lb weight limit only applies to the area of the rig actually supported by the gymbals. What I mean is, you could totally mount your touch screen, brick battery, what have you, up near the handles. As long as that weight isn't being put on the gymbals, you're fine. So, if you do just the epic body and a lens, then mount your screen, battery, teradek, etc near the top, you should easily be within the weight limits. The prototype rigs also showed a wireless FF rigged to the camera somehow, and those barely weigh anything. I've seen so many pictures of an epic rigged on this thing, I gotta believe it's possible. They've even said in interviews that the Epic will work but it's about as high of weight as you should go. I think you just have to accept that you need a super-bare config to make this work. I don't see why you'd want to carry a 20lb rig around out in front of you like that anyway, so the upcoming M20 seems confusing to me.

Well, that's encouraging!! I was confused when you said you had 007. I guess you meant 1007. 64th in line aint half bad!

It's pretty crazy actually, there's a set of batteries included that run *everything* including the Movi - for 45 minutes. That's FF, Paralinx, and SmallHD.

They also include a Mattebox solution according to Vincent's most recent post.
