  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Meizler Module... The Details.

I'm sure that's just a typo. What irks me is that it appears that they're using a 5-pin Lemo connector for audio -- different from the previous Red Epic and different from the TA3 used in the Red One. So this is the third different connector the company has used for sound.

I am glad to see them return to BNC for timecode. And I think a lot of producers will sit up and take notice now that the camera can deliver simultaneous proxies for instant offline editing. This will help eliminate a lot of quibbles from the pro-Alexa front.

Typo for the 24Khz Im sure, Hope so anyway. Actually I have no issue with the lemo, its streets ahead of those darn 3.5 jacks.

720p - 4:2:2 @ 24 & 60fps
1080p - 4:2:2 @ 24 & 60 fps
2k - 4:2:2 @ 24 & 60fps

Please don't say your leaving the whole of Europe out of this?!!!- I was about to order 5.......

Don't freak out :) 25 and 50p is in there of course.

What a nice Module.

I have two question to the bottom plate with the front Lens Port:

- What is with the correct lens-rod distance for accessory with the Quick Release Platform system?
- Means the Lens Ports front, that we lose our lightweight 15mm setup possibility or will there be a possibility to get the Lens Ports to the top or side?

I don't want to gush here, but honestly there is no reason to contain my excitement. Think about the tremendous compact functionality this provides.

This is easily some of the most forward thinking technology packed into an accessory for any camera out there. Fully integrated and wireless. Compact and streamlined.

This is the secret weapon productions have been waiting for.

I can imagine these on set moving around so freely without wrangling or relocating video village. Time saver. Money saver. Perfect for features, broadcast, and gasp..... live broadcast even.

It's like those guys at Red were listening or something. Really nice work.

We lose LWS 15mm, but for a rig like this honestly 19mm or 15mm studio is the way to go with the potential of these accessories.

We are getting better at that... But this was one hell of a collaboration. You want to see a group of Rockstars you should of seen the team that put all these bits together.. including half of 3ality Technica that I kidnapped and locked in our back closet for the last 8 months to get their part done.

oops sorry.. will to back and fix.

@Phil Holland

You're absolutely right. But why not use it with a compact Handheld setup, that you already own. It's perfect for a Handheld lightweight setup. No extra cable and wireless. That's why I ask, if there is a possibility to put the front
lens port on the top of the Epic.

But this was one hell of a collaboration.

We rarely get to know who is behind the "red curtain" but this is seriously great work guys. Congrats and thank you for the hard work.

Jarred do you think it's the night before NAB you need sleep =D

As a location sound mixer, I'm curious about the dimensions of the RedSync Master. Also, I'm really hoping that 24kHz audio @ 16 bit is a typo. 48 kHz is kind of the minimum, no?

Aproximate L : 110mm, W : 105mm, H: 32mm.

and yes sorry abou the typo.. fixed.

This is a very exciting module and very thoughtfull product...well done to Red (and Stephen P and Hector)!!

And well done on the recent additions.

My only real question is with regard to a time table for other LCS suport.

Will the latest Prestons hand units work out the Gate (I'm asking for Jeff B as he has some lovely new shinny Prestons)

Will we see any Arri support? I have a couple of Arri LCSs and would love to see them working at some point..... PS the new Arri WCU-4 is looking really cool (integration with their LDA and Cinetape looks promising) and I imagine is going to sell well.. So suport for Arri might be good for the product? I'm being a little self serving here as I don't fancy selling my Arri's to buy again.

Either way I am sure these will sell like hoecakes and I am hopeing to make a really easy purchase..

Thank you

Michael L

I can't tell you all the formats, (except for H.264 and DNxHD) .. but I can tell you some resolutions..

720p - 4:2:2 @ 24 & 60fps
1080p - 4:2:2 @ 24 & 60 fps
2k - 4:2:2 @ 24 & 60fps

2k 4:4:4 will become enabled early 2013.
