  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

THE M8 (008) Discussion thread

Hey guys, I know I haven't posted on here in a while... I've been uber busy working on other things that I really haven't had time to just dream that one day the epic will be up on the site for sale so I can pop my card number in and hit the purchase button....

... but now I came back just to see what has happened since I have read up on the site the last time and all I can say is... I can not wait any longer this camera looks amazing!

I guess I shall get my hands on one soon enough... unfortunately soon enough simply isn't soon enough.

Ryan,

Networking, alliances, and personal messages are the bedrock of this industry. Obviously understanding the technology we use is also critical. That said, we can be the best tech person and/or artist in the world, but if our interpersonal skills are lacking nobody wants to work with us.

Gotcha... I guess I'm just more suave in person than in writing ;) I'm jsut getting the hang of this. If you knew me better, I'd bet you'd have laughed at my comment. By the way, I edited my last little comment while you where writing and now I'm not sure this thread makes sense... see, I'm learning.

And trust me, I know our business is a small one, I'm not here to make enemies... I was exchanging emails with Ketch the other day.

BTW - I see you're from San Clemente. That's my home town - I lived there for many years. I also keep a few surfboards at my family's home there for when I need a surf fix. Sometime when I'm there, and have an Epic with me, I'd be happy to demonstrate Epic's lack of rolling shutter in person - maybe by shooting some surfing at Lower Trestles.

It seems our world is a small one too. If you're from the area, then I'm sure you've know Jim personally for a long time. Growing up, (although I never really got to know Jim) his son Jamin and I were on many soccer teams together.
I'm always down for a lowers session. I'm sure you know how we locals tend to take it for granted after a while :P I'm not gonna lie, if you brought that epic with you, that'd be a treat. Looks like you've shot a ton of action sports stuff... that's how I cut my teeth with production work. We'd probably have a lot to talk about.

Again, thanks for all the info. I'll try not to tease or correct anyone EVER agian haha. Things seam to get taken the wrong way too easily.

-Ryan

PS, thanks for being gracious with this last post...

No worries Ryan...

Yup, its a very small world. I'll give you a shout next time I'm headed to San Clemente :)

Bring on the waves...

I'm slammed with work right now, but when I get a chance I'll be out shooting with Epic again and as usual posting my impressions of the camera here on Red User.

Steve,
Its people like you that make me love working with the RED and the community thats built up around it. Truly. Give me a shout if your ever in Ireland and need a fixer/DIT/driver on the ground.

Thank you kindly Jay...

I travel a lot and I've been close to your area many times. If I'll be near Ireland I'll let you know and I'll definitely keep you in mind should I need those services.

Cheers :thumbup1:
