  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Longest Take Possible

I shot for a full day in London a couple of weeks ago, the drive got down to 10% left and i got dropped frames, first time ever on my drive so its possible for it to happen when the media gets full.

I did a 2 hour take before which was fine on the day (camera was super hot after but that was fine) but it was in the post where i had my problems, I couldnt load the R3d files in to anything Red Alert or Cine and it crashed my my Mac Pro each time i tried, that could be my machine and i ended up only using the proxies, but i wont be doing long takes again.

So it seems mixed. Would like to know how the guys with the long takes processed their footage.

I just did a more than one hour take last week on a beta build about 30% of the media was used.

Using a 2 hour shot, we have used the proxies; and also RedRushes. So far we have had no problems. If it's possible I try to swap drives after about an hour, just in case, but there are times when it's 2 hours without a break.

Code:
turn off proxies and the camera takes no time at all to post. if your doing long takes or doc stuff you should turn proxies off.

That's awesome. I did not know that. Thanks for the tip.
