  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

I received my allocation email yesterday... Funds have been taken and I'm off to the shipping department. Should ship in 3-5 days. SO 1035.

Rather, your not though going to get an idea from the forum posts, however, if you do see RED.com backordered it would more than likely mean anyone with a Scarlet package maybe not seeing that item if its apart of the package, if the first set of PL mount guys arent seeing it then the Al etc. won't be either...

By Feb though hopefully everyones packages will be complete or even before then

Bit confused, the green says contacted by Rep right? Is that pre-shipping info?

I'm just lost since 1160 has green on it but wasn't at the event, though those at the event haven't got green :confused: i.e. 1200 and so on who have a Yes...

I know SOs don't count and I don't mind since that means anyone of us could be getting the next Scarlet but just seems confusing that I figured the whole set of those with YES would go green/orange before the first 'No'
 
The people receiving cameras seem consistent with what Red have announced as far as I can see (give or take one or two where the info may not have filtered through yet)

PL mounts from the 300 event are fulfilled, and we can see PL mounts from general orders arriving on the spreadsheet now, in SO order.
AL mounts from the 300 event are starting to be fulfilled, pretty much by SO order, and we won't see any general AL orders til that's done.

I guess when order 4126 (Latest AL from the 300 we know of) is shipped, we can get excited for general AL orders to start.
 
What I don't quite understand is how some people who happened to be at the event (because they live locally or had free time) can order like 10 days after some of us who were waiting just as long and don't happen to be in the general geographic area and they can already have their camera. I know it is part of the whole first 300 but come on, they should have placed their orders on the 3rd. I'm seeing some orders placed like 2 weeks after the 3rd, so I don't see why being at an event would matter if they weren't ready then. Orders should be fulfilled in the order they were done, with some exceptions for people who put money down at the event or the same night. Two weeks later and you get your camera before some of us others who were online for hours on the 3rd. Doesn't seem to have any logic whatsoever, but whatever.

Either way, I can't do anything about it and congrats to those who happened to be lucky enough to live local and be able to take the ride in. I just hope RED starts kicking ass with orders so those of us who bought on the 3rd have a chance before Christmas or the new year.

BTW, I am just venting a bit this morning after seeing some of this on the doc list; I really don't need lectures from others who don't see it my way. Congrats to all those who have received notification or their cameras.

I agree with this to some extent. It is frustrating. Wasn't aware of the deadline.

Jim appreciated the people who came out the night of aiding in getting the message of the announcement out when Reduser was knocked off line. He gave those in attendance some extra time (I believe til 11/15) to place their order and still receive the benefit of being at the front of the line. There is nothing more too it than that.

I know there is no specific conspiracy. It just seems like not a logical thing. Some of us who can't make it to CA from the east coast waiting for literally years and it just bothers me a little that someone who waited until 11/15 can get an order processed and delivered for Scarlet before me. I think so many probably feel the same way. This was something we all want and need sooner than later. I get the whole idea that people who showed up at RED should have first chance to buy in person, but to log online or call your rep 12 days later and beat me out on my order placing isn't really fair no matter how anyone justifies it. Again, it isn't the peoples fault, if I had that opportunity I would have taken it too.

AGAIN, I don't want this to be a topic of conversation for the next hour so I'll leave it at that, just venting a bit for the masses who feel the same way. I hope that doc list fills up a bit faster starting this week.

I think it would've been a good plan for them to put aside DSMC sidehandles for awhile in preparation for Scarlets going out. Several on here are having to scramble and find alternate methods (inevitably having to spend more money last minute since they planned on that as there power source to start, I know I did). I know with RED it's a learning process and about patience. I know they're killing it and working hard. But I share some of your frustration Eric. It's hard watching things go so slowly. I've been turning away work since I can't currently afford to get rentals in the budget for projects. I hoped that between the 3rd of Nov and 1st of Dec they were building heaps of cameras. Then again it's really hard to get a gauge on how many are actually out in the wild. I'm sure many of us will come up here soon. Hope everyone at the event gets theirs in the next week or less.

Yeah, again I don't want this to drag on too long complaining, and my only reason for mentioning things is the google doc list. I noticed how some ordered so much later but were at the event. I am speaking mainly about being fair to customers. I would understand if they were selling Scarlets at the event and people could leave their deposits there. Either way, backorders are understandable, as products like this are new and honestly special. it is good to know that so far from the list I only see 3 others in NJ that are buying, which can give me a chance for more exclusivity. It would just be nice to know we all matter as much as the locals and orders should go out as they come in. It looks like some items are getting priority over others in shipping based off of friends orders who were billed after mine and I waiting longer for my products shipping. I don't know if that is the shipping department or production line, or what.

I'll patiently wait with the occasional complaint noted as I see it come up. No real problems here, just my feelings.
 
I ordered the 15th. I was at the event. I actually took time off work to go, and I live in S.F. Why did I order so late? The company I work for requires all sorts of documentation. You may say well why didn't you get your duckies in a row before the event. People want to know cost, and I prepped them all year long for this, but at 8k not 14k package. After it came out, I needed signature after signature and approval from all sorts of people, including I believe 3 different departments at Red. I work for a Multi Billion dollar company and this was only for 16k. (Had RED accepted Net 45 days I wouldn't need the signatures and approvals...but it is what it is) Hope that clears the air. I would have loved to place an order early, but in good conscience I had to wait till I got the NOD from my VP.

Yeah Barry, it's cool that you were lucky enough to get this opportunity. I assume you understand that regardless of your company's finances, we all have our own hurdles to jump to afford this. There is no need or any reason you should defend your processing time, but I'm sure everyone feels the same in their own right and it is just simple logic that orders should be placed and shipped in the way they come in. Either way it is a moot point. Good luck to you and getting your camera in line. You made it to the event; some of us didn't so we'll have to wait longer. I can only hope RED opens up a branch/store in NYC sooner than later.
 
Looks like the page got messed up somehow - just opened it, and a bunch of the order times are now listed as 8:17PST
(and some of the orders seem to have vanished... mine included).

I had my flight booked and all that but then I got a call for a gig with union rates. :/ If I didn't need Scarlet funds I would have gone.

The 300 have every right to get first dibs, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't know what the Scarlet-X entailed on Nov.3. They pushed out the info like rebels and saved the day, please give these people credit.

Don't get me wrong I'm upset that things are moving slow but lets be real, these cameras are trickling out literally one by one. If it continues at this rate for the next two weeks people are gonna be mad campers which they already are. I've seen more than I'd like on this forum and this isn't new for all the R1 owners and Epic owners. They went through an even more painful process to get their camera. Our Scarlets are interfering with orders made in Jul, How do you think those people feel since we're cutting in line and still bitching? This is standard protocol since the beginning but people think this is a public company or something. Best advice is think about getting your camera two months from now.

Welcome to the Red family, if you don't have patience then buy an F3 or Epic-M. Until then we are all waiting like lunatics.

wish we would have known that if you showed at the event you got priority. I would have flown down there to get further up in line. Jim makes the rules...

Like I said, it wasn't something I wanted to get in a debate about, and I was just commenting on it from the doc placement, etc. I know it was NOT a conspiracy. The servers crashed for all of us, so I'm not sure why that matters and how an extension for so long was warranted. It is completely understandable to give anyone who shows up, opportunity before us, but it doesn't really seem completely fair is all. I'm done talking about this, as it is pointless.

I don't wish to continue this topic as I don't mean to pass blame to anyone lucky enough to get that opportunity.

Just stating some points as I want my camera as fast as possible. It comes when it comes anyway. Lets see if we can all talk about a new topic. How about how many Scarlets will ship today?

Sometimes it is hard to say anything in this forum without looking like a complaining douche :) I'll try to reserve myself from simple opinions that are taken too literally. Anyway good luck to everyone who may get a RED highlight on the list today.

i'd be fine with the list being organized the way you described!

Also to everyone who is worried about which cameras are being delivered first, just remember that there were some people who have an earlier time stamp but i later SO# because of communication issues but Red made sure to give them their original timestamp!

There are also plenty of cameras that have been delivered but are not on the list, for instance Mark Peterson (OffHollywood) got two and his aren't on here. Don't worry i'm sure no one is just getting skipped here, it has to do with which mount you have AND if you were at the event!
