  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Hobbit...

Just wanted to share -don't kill the messenger!

Hopefully PJ's endorsement should be enough to set this guy straight.

Thanks. Actually it's a validation of what we're doing when on the day of a large positive announcement for all involved, that the FUD starts coming, and old FUD that wasn't even correct when it was new, never mind now, mysteriously gets mentioned again...

We can't complain ;) but it does depend on what part of Nz your shooting in. Sub-tropical in the north to Sub-antarctic in the south, this is the reason for the huge diversity of landscapes and environments found here. Were spoilt we really are.

Anyone planning to shoot in Nz shoot me a email, I have a large home, cold beer in the fridge, 3 mins from the beach.... :wink5:

Awesome!

They also downgraded Jim to millionaire. ;)

Congratulations to Jim and the entire RED SQUAD! you have come so far these past few years and this is a token to your work. Can't wait to hear more about Peter's workflow!!

I noticed my RED stock just went up with this announcement. Nice!

I'm already getting calls from people asking how they can shoot on that "RED 3D camera" they are using on "The Hobbit" hah!

Huge congrats RED team. Can't get more legit then this.

3D/2D answer: Watch it in 2D get your purist principles out of you, the second time in 3D, and the 3rd in your favorite format.

This has been an easy philosophy since I heard the announcement of this film being shot in 3D. This is one of the best books, with one of the best film makers of all time, with the latest brilliant technology of RED EPIC.

I saw Avatar once in 3D and was satisfied. With this film I don't even think I will that way even after the third time I see this film. Can't wait.

5 years ago I made the decision to build a camera. 3+ years ago we delivered the 1st ones. Today we are announcing that one of the biggest movies of our time will be shooting on our cameras. Pretty unbelievable.

Jim

I've been following the RED program and have been active in it's production and education community since early on, and I still find myself amazed at these landmark achievements... and in such a short time.

Way to go, Jim and RED Team.

This is simply refreshingly astonishing.

Now, get to work on those Jet Packs. I was promised in kindergarten that I would have a Jet Pack. Just sayin'.

Totally OT

But that totally made me go and find some of my Old Alan Parsons Project stuff.
Had totally forgotten about him and his project...

Thanks

or is it? ;-)

I love how the wolf-man and the rat-man bow to each other, then for no explicable reason they bring in VERY 80s breakdancers...
