gday,
have been trying alot of different things now from different cables
and hard drives, to resetting factory settings, black shading, thorough cleaning of hard drive plug in port and also reinstalling firmware (build 17) and my camera build 900's still refuses to recognise hard drives. cf cards are fine its just the 320g digimedia! i was told if it didn't work after firmware reinstallment and black shading that i would have to send to the states as im in sydney australia. is there anything else that may fix this issue to avoid the camera a month out of action in the states???

cheers
sandy

The sooner you send it the sooner it's fixed. Also, it's not a month turnaround, it's closer to two weeks, depending on when the weekends fall.

Have you spoken to RED about the issue yet?

It sounds like it needs to return to RED for a more serious looking at.

I have read somewhere on here that the drive connector on the camera has blown either by someone trying to plug something in that shouldn't go there or something like that. This may be your issue. I would suggest sending it back to Red especially if your camera is under a year old, then you could have it fully checked under the warranty.

As far as the 16b cards go. You need to install a new CF Module tat they will send you with the cards and I believe build 18 has to be installed as well. Not sure if build 17 works. My 16gb cards work just fine on build 18.

why new? we received red in late October, so is there something to change? i belive not. maybe i told not so right, it sees it sometimes, but says that cf card is to slow for using... ill try to work with them tomorrow, cuz i didnt have so much time today to check it a bit more, anyway its strange...:umm:

They sent me a new CF board. It takes a few minutes to swap out. I believe it should say Rev 2.1 on it if it is the current one. Just take the side module off (don't worry, you are allowed to do this) and you should see a sticker on the board that says Rev 2.1

You must be running Build 17 or newer. 16GB CF cards WILL NOT work on build 16.

You must have the new CF module installed. RED should have sent you one with your first order of 16GB cards. All new RED cameras being shipped have the new CF module and updated audio boards, i-pins... I don't recall when RED started dropping the new CF module into the camera, but I don't think your late October camera is new enough. I think it was November / December, when they upgraded them.

Double check your firmware version, try re-installing B17 or 18. If it still does not work, contact RED and see what they say. Perhaps they just didn't send you the CF module when they should have?

so, i checked, we have rev 2.0... i tried to reinstall b17 but red still writes that card is too slow, so as far as Jeff told, we need to contact red to receive new cf module, but what we shall do with old one, you know from eastern europe to states is to far :)
thanks for you help!
