  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Hobbit...

A huge congrats to Jim and all at RED for your vision and delivering a dream.

Peter Jackson is one of the worlds foremost directors and one of my favourite, with a track record second to none, for him to choose Epic is truly Epic.

If l ever get the chance it would be a true pleasure to say hello and shake your hand Jim and thank you for your vision. Can't wait to buy my new scarlet/Epic Light from you and put shot on RED on my web site.

Just Fab news Jim

Retirement to Fiji?

Jim

You could have retired to Fiji long ago. I think your goal is to conquer the world. At least the cinema world. And I think you are well on your way.

Congratulations on your long list of accomplishments in the last 5 years. And I look forward to many more "surprises" in the future.

Ha, my first thought was also along the more selfish lines of: "Darn it, with Jackson taking 30 cameras, there's only 70 of those Pre-Production Epic M's left now!"

:P

Anyway, awesome! And congrats!

Very very exciting - and great for all of us. Whatever helps make great films and helps push forward the development of RED is just a really good thing :)

This is very good news!

Congratulations!

great news for RED, congrats

Really amazing achievement, Jim. You and the team have earned a huge pat on the back. In the world of digital cameras, this is like winning the Indy 500. I hope we can all get a peek at these cameras in action from time to time, before ours lands. I've believed in this platform since I saw the stunning images from the Red One at NAB and now it has exceeded my wildest dreams. By any metric, the Epic stands far and away as the best imaging acquisition device on the planet, IMHO. Thanks for slaying the dragon.

Best of luck and if you need someone to hot foot anything back and forth from NZ, I'm time-zone agnostic ;)!

Congratulations, Jim and everyone at RED. Amazing news. Oh to be able to work on that project!

I read the Hobbit when I was a child. I have been eagerly anticipating the seeing this epic made into a film from the time I saw the first of the LOTRs.
To think that the film I've been looking forward to seeing all of these years will be shot by the same amazing filmmaker, using the very same camera I will soon own, is nothing short of inspirational.

Thanks Jim, for making dreams come true.

Jim Jannard the owner and founder of RED flew to New Zealand earlier this year with members of his team so that Jackson could test the EPIC and assess its suitability. "Everybody at RED is incredibly proud that Peter has chosen the Epic" says Jannard, "The Hobbit is a major production, and could have chosen any camera system that they wanted. The fact that they went with us is extremely gratifying."

And this is just the beginning.

Congrats to every single person who did anything to help build this camera.

I'm counting the seconds now .... literally ...
