come watch the trailer Tomorrow night in 2K 3D

We tested the trailer today in 2K 3D and it is absolutely stunning! This is by far some of the best s3D I have seen so far. Kudos to RED, Peter Jackson and the 3Ality crew...

Come see the trailer tomorrow night on the big screen at 8PM in 3D at the Downtown Independent LA.

A great taste for sure... Now I really can't wait to be in NZ, and see it in 4K at PJ's facilities... ;)

Ketch, don't forget to tour Weta while you're there. The workshop is amazing. You'll come home with some armor or a sword :)

I'll definitely do that Phil,

as we'll be partnering up with their facilities and Park Road for our Film... This will be a trip for both pleasure and Business, hope lots of pleasure... ;)

3D+4K révolution already lost the battle against super fast growing market of a private home theater rooms and also upcoming Tablet HD aka iPad 3.

Big theater like a dinosaur will die sooner or later...

Interesting, While I was in University 10 years ago my scriptwriting teacher said exactly the same thing. And theaters are still going strong. GOing to the movies is not only about picture quality and sound. Its about the Huge canvas, the social experience, the joint joy of experience movie magic. This will not disappear. Nothing beats the joy of an audience experience together the power of movie magic. At least for me. :)
I presume, Sérgio, your school is the same I knew as lecturer ;-) He was not completely wrong as we can both see now... LOL (E :)

The characteristics of the motion blur in the trailer is certainly pretty interesting. The percentage of shots you could pull stills level grabs off seems pretty massive, and the motion blur seems isolated sometimes to only really heavy motion portions on the shot.

Not familiar enough with the relative shutter speeds to tell if that's just a nature of the shutter angle they used, or if this footage has had post processing applied to bring it back down to 24 fps (other than just dropping down every other frame), but it's pretty amazing to go through frame by frame either way.

To me the most beautiful shot at Hobbit trailer is

hobbit_blanchett_01.jpg

Cate Blanchett as Galadriel in Hobbit.

Btw, shooting at 48 fps is already an old thing to me.
