Hi Guys,

I've been hearing of this urban myth now for a few years. Always thought it was bullshit!
But here it is.. It's real! A friend of mine Alfie Speights (pilot for Lord of the Rings) just flew with it.

The guy that invented the hugely ridiculously stable cineflex camera who sold out to the Military for untold millions has finally been aloud to release probably the best ever Aerial helicopter stabilized head ever invented ever!!!!!! A 6 Axis system that can hold EPIC & ALEXIA.

For the people who don't know what a CINEFLEX camera head is capable of, I'll explain. I have done this myself.. You can lock a 2000mm image on something 10 mikes away and not see out the window what your actually shooting because of the distance, The image on the screen looks like a frame grab.. dead pin locked. You ask the pilot of the the helicopter to spin the helicopter around in 360 degrees or just keep spinning fast.. The image stays locked on image and you still think it's just a screen grab until you see the tail boom wiz through frame.. thats how good the cineflex system is.

Only Problem was.. it had a video camera in it, No FIlm , no RED... so you were stuck with a sony 900 HD picture.

Soooo now... EPIC lives in it (as well as Alexia).

The website 5 days ago had the most amazing images posted but now they have been removed.. There are still some there... I so hope he has not been gagged!!!! or sold out to the military again.. That would be so bad for us all.

Check it.. and hope he reposts those movies.

Mark you are always coming up with such great info. Stoked to hear about this just like everytime I read one of your posts.
Thanks for sharing.

Sick. What's the cost? There are no restrictions on brining it to China?

Mark, if you get a chance, could you ask Alfie how it compares to a Cineflex?

Apparently they made a test: they shot with a 400mm lens (on 2/3", so very long), and framed a shot for like 10 minutes from the heli. It drifted over the time a few pixels. Got back to the factory for the answers. Apparently the reply was: "...the current software does not compensate for the rotation of the Earth - it will be fixed in future firmware upgrades...". :)

LOL!

All components have no ITAR export control requirements.

ITAR rules was a pain traveling with the Cineflex.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of United States government regulations that control the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List (USML).[1] These regulations implement the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), and are described in Title 22 (Foreign Relations), Chapter I (Department of State), Subchapter M of the Code of Federal Regulations. The Department of State interprets and enforces ITAR. Its goal is to safeguard U.S. national security and further U.S. foreign policy objectives.[2]

Is there a reason why you always refer to it as the Alexia and not by it's proper name - Alexa?

has finally been aloud to release probably

Probably the same reason 'allowed' was spelled with an ou. Over zealous auto-correct.

What I wonder is, how can it be as good as Cineflex, and yet not be subject to these ITAR rules?

I suppose if it was manufactured outside the US, that might explain it?

:skep::skep::skep:

Sheesh... you guys are tough.. Did you both fall out of bed this morning, hit your heads and thought to pick on peoples spelling today...
Cripes.. Is this a camera forum or an english class.

Sorry for typing to quick and not back checking my spelling...

Moving on lads. find something else to play with.

Okay, grammar fascism aside, price and availability?
