The Gentleman's Underwater Bubble Blower Thread

Thank you John E, Johhny F, Tom H, John Shaw and Michael M for your input into my request.
I have taken notes on all comments and opinions.
I do love my Tokina 10-17 Johnny and being a Nikon user I am trying by all means to stay with the Optitek Nikon mount I currently have... until Red Nikon is more universal.
So within the Nikon world the T10-17 amd N 10-24 together with the Z15 are my current contenders.....since I have not shot with the 5k option
underwater - I was just refining all said on this forum to make sure my decision is up to date....
I am vested in Nikon Glass and use the Nikon 17-35, 60 and 105 underwater... so
Would love to use the Canon 8-15 uw but I don't think I want to have a separate mount for this lens.....

Thank you all. MH

Mauricio: I use a LOT--or rather used a lot the Nikon 16-85 as an all around lens underwater. Gets the job done for when you need wide (not ultra wide) then medium zoom shots. Very universal, but you'll need a port extender...and behind the dome.
JF

Hi Zeke,

I passed my list already twice or three times since the Nikon mount was released.
none added until today, so I don't use Nikon anymore.... alas.
basically, and I think many would agree, the following lenses:

Nikkor 16mm FE
Nikkor 10.5mm FE (arguable, but I love that little lens)
Sigma 15mm FE
Tokina 10-17mm FE
Nikkor 10-24mm RL
Nikkor 60mm Macro
Nikkor 105mm Macro
Sigma 150mm Macro

Thanks again,

Michael

I would love you to add zeiss zf.2 lenses, 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm

I've added them to the request list. Thanks for the input!

Rafa - thanks for your insight. You and I have spoken at length about this lens and it deserves merit as well. Thanks!
Johnny - I use the 17-35 as my main stay as well.... appreciate your insight .

Best- MH

Can anyone give me feedback on how to price a total of 2 4k Clips - one is 7 sec the other is 3 for
use by one client for one year / US and Canada only (NorthAmerica) to showcase 4k footage on UHD TV in store-
I am assuming at this point it is accross many stores and multiple TV's.
I have spoken to a few of you off forum but trying to get everyones feed back to keep prices in check.
It is in all of our own best interest to keep prices competitive but realistic...
Any thoughts? Anyone?

Many thanks

Mauricio

Does the Zeiss 15mm 2.8 fit in the Gates Deep Epic housing? Do the petals need to be trimmed. This is our main timelapse lens now above water. Great lens.

Sean, thanks for posting that, hard to go wrong with the likes of Bob and Johnny working the uw rigs, some very solid talent there.

Any chance you might post the technical details of the new OLPF, my X to Dragon is depending on it. Would also like some R3D's for Rudi to have a crack at, if you pass muster with him, yer pretty much good to go!

I hear ya there Tom, really talented/experienced guys and nice as can be. I learned a ton from those two guys both topside and u/w.

Definitely more on the new OLPF very soon. Big things to come...

Rebreather Divers

...for those of you diving rebreathers and even you older divers with eyes that just don't work as well....I recently got the opportunity to dive a new HUD (heads up display) from Shearwater Research. This product is called the NERD....stands for near eye remote display. It's a fully functional decompression computer that can be used as a primary or a HUD. I used it as a HUD along with my wired in wrist mount computer. It's pricey at $2,500usd. but if you are a RB diver and camerman....it's a great tool. I wrote a article (or rather a report for Shearwater) about the NERD that i'll gladly make available to anyone.

Here's the actual device on Shearwater's site: http://www.shearwaterresearch.com/products/nerd/

Email me if you want to see a full review of the NERD.

Epic Dragon 6k Underwater

Epic Dragon 6k Underwater

Posting a few frame grabs from Epic Dragon 6k underwater from our Catalina Shoot. The new color sciences is vastly improved and although we were shooting with the original or (not yet updated) OLPF, the Magenta issue is greatly reduced. Still there to a small degree, but a vast improvement over Epic X.

Thanks for posting that Dave, regards and thanks to Hugh when you see him next. I'm looking on the Formatt Hitech website, but can't find the 2A, 2E, or -20UV designators mentioned in Hugh's research, are they special/custom order?

Tom,

I believe they are standard products but need to be ordered. Don't think they are on the website.

I will ask if they can put a link up if they are wanted or if some form of group buy can be organised.

Dave
