  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The future of editing!!!???

1. If they want to make it more like the old days of film editing, give the editor a comfy seat and a decent bottle of red...

2. Also, why does he need to wave his arms around to do basic commands? Couldn't he just say "stop, rewind, forward, cut, etc"?

3. Also, also what does "physicality of film editing, but with non-linear elements" mean? As far as I remember, film editors (myself included) were the least physical people in the world being that we sat down drinking red wine all day long. As for non-linear, you can't get more non-linear than splicing bits of film together with tape!

Honestly, the more the film industry morphs into an outpost of the digital anorak club, the more I despair!

I saw this a looong time ago. I think its pretty sweet concept. I am not a big editor but I have had to put together my own stuff and I think that I would rather mess with it with my hands than stare at a screen and use a mouse. But I have always been the kind of person to use kinetic energy (using my hands like this system would allow).

I can see the iTablet as a stepping stone to this kind of technology.

Good find Sanjin

There is nothing worse for your brain and decision making then sitting on your ass for hours in the dark room holding cup of cold coffee and chewing that last piece of pizza.
It worked for WII after all and it's just the beginning.

Awful idea. With my Intuos tablet and dual monitors I`m way faster and more accurate than with this strange thing. Trying to edit anything for a prolonged time with this technology will increase RSI again, I fear...

definitely in its infancy. kind of like the Apple Newton. will probably show up in games first. And yeah, what about voice commands?

I would love a software that automatically understands what objects are in the frame, so you could extract those images perfectly like this guy does, no need for that greenscreen anylonger. Only problem is I am sure they have manually drawn out those images frame by frame.

For ten years I have longed for the "MAKE PERFECT" button in my editing software, wouldn´t that be nice, whenever you are about to get fed up with a project, you just hit that button, leave and go home, and next day everything is ready for you...

Yeah, the tech is in its infancy and it's kinda cool but why not just do all the stuff on a large "flatbed" like table with multi-touch technology. I would add that it with a table it would be nice to be able to tilt and raise or lower it like a drafting table. I have a motorized sit and stand table and I love it. Plus you can have your glass of wine Liam.

Having a place to rest your hands and focus your muscles on would be more comfortable and have less strain on your shoulders. Plus it's really MORE like working on a flatbed and the tech can be more compressed on one surface without gloves and sensors in the ceiling.

Minority Report Oddity:
I love that visual system in the film. Very cool tech and worked well for the film. It was odd that they had to use a disk to move the download from one desk to another. Where's the T1 network? Goofy.
