  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Epic 700 Reel... Now online.

why is it called "Epic 700" reel?

It all started with the " 100 REEL " .. the first reel that we included footage from the first 100 customers and their cameras. Remember that one?

We just kinda kept going with the numbers every half year or so.. till we ended up with the 700.

Oh my,
This Epic reel is freaken awesome! Someone mentioned goosebumps? I had trouble sitting still watching this :-)
And Really inspiring to watch as well..

People are coming up to me these days and saying, I heard skin tones are not really that good on RED compared to arri... ?
I say what !?!?!?!?

I say, skin tones can be what ever colour you want them to be... Idiots!!!! especially when you shoot RAW!!!!!!!!!!!

Who starts these rumours! some days I want to smack people are across the head with the stupid stick!

Some nice pictures in this reel. It's downloaded and ready to show the crazy miss informed people.

Unbelievable! I almost had a heart attack when the epic was being handed from one bicycle to another! Thanks Red!

Sincerely,

That was seriously OUT OF CONTROL! I can't believe the detail in the arial shots, and the last shot I felt like I was in an Imax theater the image was so immersive....and I'm on a 15" macbook pro. So jealous of the people that get to see this projected in 4k... :-/

I keep reading the reports from spiderman, and the folks who watch stuff on your screen and how they talk about the 'presence' and 'best images I've ever made' and 'depth'...

I thought that's cool, or whatever... I obviously didn't get it. I got a taste when I watched this. Wow.

Those images do have presence, even in a web preview.

(Somehow, this looks way better than many of the epic clips I've been seeing, and I've seen most that have been posted. Somehow sharper and richer)

One more thought...

Shallow depth and selective focus has been touted a way of creating a 'cinematic' look. What's most impressive about these images is how deep and crisp everything is. It's the new 'cinematic'.

(I know that deep focus has been used quite effectively in the past, but never was it this crisp and rich)

Thanks a truckload for making this avaialable and particularly for making a 1080p version downloadable.... just whowed it to my wife who was very impressed as well ("Epic is the the big brother tothe the Scarlet, honey.").

Hard to get accross to her (and people in general) that the full-res flavor has over 4 times the resolution and detail, when the 1080p version looks so dang good...

+1.

I like almost every EPIC clip I've seen so far, but this Reel is so much better. The best "filmic" look on a digital camera so far...

Hyper-real

Hyper-real

This morning I drove into the city in a rain storm. At one point, I was stopped in traffic and the sky was a mix of dark clouds and breaking sunlight. There were bright blues, reds and ambers glimmering from car lights in the puddles and droplets. Everything looked sharp, yet dreamlike. I found myself thinking, 'This looks like Epic footage.'

Until I saw the 700 Reel, I wouldn't have had that thought.

You've achieved something pretty sensational when your camera doesn't just capture reality, but captures the feeling of hyper-reality that borders on the surreal. That is why, for me, Epic is the best possible camera to shoot features.

Some of the most beautiful images I have ever seen. Good job everyone who took part in shooting this.
