If Your client wants Alexa, you say "Dragon is better"... And want to prove it... Is there a reel that shows key advantage points specifically mentioning them? Also, many clients are simply scared of 6k RAW post, is there a reel that shows it is nothing to be scared about? Like a walk through?
Dragon owners, please make a short "Dragon is better" reel, upload to Vimeo and post link here.

Its happening, once NAB hits you shall have a wonderful Dragon Reel to show off
something sooner than then youll have some images but nothing as overall wonderful as what RED will give for NAB.

LOL didnt know people need to prove its better than other..and do you show videos to your clients? if you need videos there are already hundreds of dragon clips in REDUSER.
also check vimeo

i dont think that is what the OP was going for. i think he needs a comparison video showing red workflow/images vs arri. this makes sense, they are both widely used cinema systems/workflows. so whether red made such a propaganda video, or a rental house does, or an owner op, i dont think really matters. it should be done well to highlight the advantages of this system (or maybe either system if its not made as an in house promotion by red themselves)

i know lots of people say "test for yourself". well clients don't do that, producers can't even tell a port from a port, or know what codec anything is shooting or why. lets be honest about it, its up to us to convey which tool is better, but sometimes they wont listen to the camera experts either. for situations like that, stubborn producers, or ignorant producers who just dont know the system or workflow could really benefit from some pro red marketing such as this.

i dont think many clients or producers are signing up for reducation any time soon. i love the tutorial series red has been doing. what we need is something short and interesting like that, but to show producers, that can briefly highlight the advantages of the red systems. sure some redusers may say we don't need such a video, but surely it couldn't hurt to try and educate people more on the system? even if camera ops, dps, and dits know the system i think selling it on clients in a spiffy little promo piece surely couldn't hurt.

i'd like to do some tests myself once my dragon gets in. i keep my package with a major name rental house, so im hoping they can let me do some testing i can show off on their site or on RU... not just dragon tests but like dragon vs alexa vs flex 4k vs c500 type stuff. situations where it'd be hard to do the test without involving them essentially

ps for such an elaborate test i'd much prefer to wait until dragon color and oplf issues have been finalized. i dont want to have to bother the place twice to do this... so i am probably going to wait for my dragon to arrive before i approach the house to do this testing to buy us some time for dragon color to be done

pss i think releasing the raw files would be a good bet in such a test. like do the tests and show the public what the cameras shoot natively at matched settings without a one light. then place the raw images on the net to let the public do coloring/ one lights. that'd be a really cool test, one that lets the public play with the files to really grasp workflow/differences. obviously this is different then a promo piece for producers, more so interesting for us pixel peepers

I am aware of your test, and appreciative Geoff, I think getting it redone once the color science is finished is imperative though. but just wanted to thank you for your preliminary work in the mean time, and in no way is my desire a slight on your efforts! i just think showing the finalized dragon off is necessary at some point, no matter who does the testing and i'd like to do my own tests and share. i'll be sure it won't be apples to apples the same as yours, i'd change it up somehow

i think showing off workflow is another key thing. once the color science, multi gpu encoding on CL or cuda, and oplf is all finalized we will be firing on all cylinders like never before. even now with it just starting to come together my MX workflow has improved dramatically! i think selling more then just dynamic range vs alexa and other cameras is vital, were selling an ecosystem on clients after all

if your client wants Alexa, and you want this client - you just get Alexa.

Life is not that simple, and a professional is not like a waiter. What if your clients wants a 5D? You say yes to "please" and when results suck they blame you. (And at some level, they should - it's your responsibility to help guide clients)

of course Alexa is a totally fine choice in many cases, until, say, you need an octocopter shot, you need to use a light jib, you need many hours of Steadicam….
