This is absolutely the best rig ive use. this is a must have for any shooter the mechanics are outstanding. Unlike other rigs like ET mantis or Zacuto where basically you just prop the rig on your shoulder and deal with the weight. THE CLUTCH distributes the weight between you back chest and shoulder. I did a 2 day shoot and we use nothing but THE CLUTCH and MX and a few jib shots and didnt have any pain or soreness at the end of the shoot. afterwards i went right to the night club. At times i could take both of my hands of the grips and the rig would rest on my shoulder without sliding. I could run with this rig with next to no shake closely resembling steadicam. Of all the beautiful things RED has made this is absolutely my favorite EVERY SHOOTER SHOULD HAVE THIS

+1 Vote for THE CLUTCH

Couldn't say in off great things about what is no doubt the BEST EVER Shoulder rig ever used!!

Its modularity is unprecedented, adn can't wait for the Battery Pro Modules to better balance the EPIC on it, and make it that much better to use, literally INFINITE MOUNTING POSSIBILITIES... ;)

I like the clutch, But I prefer the cam directly on top on my shoulder rather than forward of it. The pad is a bit on the hard side for my personal taste too.

ummmmm i use to do that. its not easy for me to get proper shots that way. and when i would use the mantis i would always end up with back and neck problems. what type of setup are you using?

I am assembling a rig mixed from a lot of different vendors. Will post about it once I get all the bits together.

I'm about to announce a rig that I've been designing with a fellow reduser (Kostas Tirintzis) that I think will blow a lot of people away. It is extremely versatile, user friendly and the design makes very little imprint on the camera itself. It's a matter of seconds to set up and also includes EVF and monitor mounts (equally fast to connect). What's amazing with it is that we've shaved off almost half the size and thickness of the quick release platform. To still have the quick release there, but allowing for the camera to almost literally be on the shoulder. It's almost as if you just put the camera on a shoulder pad on the shoulder. This way the lens is equal to eye line on a average sized user. THERE'S ONE COOL THING STILL.... even though we've made that happen - there's still 5 degree turn for shoulder adjustment - each way (so 10 degrees in total). There's also 5 second turn around to have the shoulder pad in any configuration around the camera - for the ones, that for example, wants to have it more behind just like the clutch. It has an arm extending to a rod system for counter balance with for example battery plate. ALL OF THIS HAS QUICK RELEASE LOCKS AND HALF A TURN LOCKING SYSTEM - so there's no more fiddling with rosettes etc. The handle bar system slides on and off in a matter of seconds. THE COOLEST THING IS THAT EVEN THOUGH IT PACKS ALL THIS - it's slimmer and more lightweight then any of the other systems. I'm sorry for all the capitals but I'm so excited about this system. We are very soon to start a thread an add pictures/movies for better understanding and I can't wait. This is truly the system that I want and it's so sleek and simple that it's almost scary they haven't always been like this. It's literally a matter of 10-15sec from nothing on the camera to a full EVF mount system, Touch screen monitor and shoulder rig - all of them in almost any configuration).

So stay put if you're looking for a system as I know you will want this one. This is after all the system I always dreamed of.

Love Kostas. Clever guy. :-)

I like a lot about the clutch, Handles are comfortable and very adjustable, wish it relied less on tools and bolts and agree the shoulder pad is anything but padded. Keen to see what your cooking Fredrik :-)

Clutch looks great. What is the distance between the handles (looks to be a little narrow) and what is the diameter of the handles (I have big hands)? Just thinking if it works for bigger guys...

Fredrik -- now might be a good time to announce, given there are a lot of people who will be needing a shoulder support system for their EPIC-lites (aka SCARLETs) very soon and are looking at solutions as we speak...

Hi Guys,

We know we should announce the system and we will..... very soon! We're still working on the last kinks. Kostas is working 24/7 right now and I don't think I can push him more then I am LOL. We're very close and it will be out there in time for Scarlet, no worries. We will be announcing it very soon, hopefully this week and after that we'll make orders. We will not take any payment until we have our proto types up and running (don't want to make same mistake as others has). Proto types will be finished this year, well before Scarlet is out. This is a sweet system!!! Although some might not see it's brilliance, but I think that will be very few ;). Mostly those who wants their cams BIG, clunky and way over modular LOL - this is a solution that brings all necessary functions and a little more in a compared to everything else...... tiny package ;). Or some will simply unfortunately not be able justify the purchase, as they've already made other purchases..... for those I will feel for... A LOT :( .

Given the size of the camera, moving it much further back will bring the lens next to your face. I just tried hanging a v-mount battery off the back of the clutch, and balanced very well.

I was at the RED store today looking at The Clutch and it's definitely pretty badass. Has a great feel to it and rests very comfortably on your shoulder (at least for me). What follow-focus system would you guys recommend? I'd love to see some pictures of what people in the RED community have done with theirs.
