  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Big RED Secret...

The secret is... we have no idea what we are doing. We are learning as we go. And we are just dumb enough to expose every move we make in front of God and everyone.

We shoot high... really high. 5K at 120fps in a camera the size of a matchbox. Have you seen anyone else tackle this? There is probably good reason. They are not insane. We apparently are. And there is more of this on the way...

So the secret is out. Choose your partner. Choose the one that leads with their chin or choose the others that follow only because they were forced to.

We are not perfect. But we are brave. We believe that everything must get bigger in presentation. And smaller in size. And cheaper. And better.

There's also that new camera you rascally rabbits released that's in the $15k range and tops cameras in the $80k and up range. Cause, you know, that's pretty impressive too :)

Jim, I just posted a reply to someone in a thread about whether Red would be tackling live video production with a ccu unit in tthis thread here that goes, I think, to the heart of what Red is. The post is here: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?73984-REDmote-Station&p=962876#post962876 but the gist of it is this - if you had set out to make live broadcast production then that field would already be being revolutionized by your products. If you set out to do so in the future, it won't be an add on to existing red technology to work with the existing infrastructure, but a new proposition altogether that changes the way that industry works.

Because otherwise, I have a feeling you wouldn't see the point of doing it.

Keep doing what you don't know how to, because that's how progress is born.
 
Amazing times we live in.... red is on the bleeding edge so a cut here and there dont matter.... Wish i could be at NAB.
 
Getting excited for NAB. If the past is any indication of how disruptive change can revolusionize an industry by being agile and responsive, I believe this is just the beginning and have a feeling Jim and his team will lead the way.

You have many people behind you, supporting Red initiative, including me.

Just one thing i regret at this point : no commercial gesture for those of us who experiment bugs and sometime frustration. We still have to pay a high price for defective cable replacements and other small details that can ruin a day. We're certainly not back in the Red One first days out in the field, but that would be great to remember us supporting Red effort when we will jump into the dragon upgrade program, for instance. Just saying hehe.
 
Looking forward to the next turn, as I have no idea what is hidden behind the corner, but I'll probably need it...
