THC, Lens Control Motor without WMD

I wonder, since wifi stuff is build in weapon.
Will there be a module for weapon, that let you connect the motors directly to the body without the WMD?
Like what the OMOD does.
I just dont want to invest in another remote follow focus system since I bought into Red's system.

Edit: I just want a smaller Module, than the OMOD which does only this. I'm almost always shooting Gimbal.

Ya it can, the thc mini looked like a great option for that. Some people are also designing iPhone hand wheel attachments for foolcontrol as well.

I already use the Redlink on Dragon with the THC and it works flawless. Best option with Sigma lenses on EF Mount and cam on gimbal.
Just like I mentioned in another thread it would be so good to put a Motor on the zoom and use Iris and Focus controll via wifi.

THC would work very similar to how Optitron2 works with DSLR lenses.

Oh I read that only redlink works, not hotlink.

THC works ONLY WITH REDLINK, not with the HOTLINK which is just wi-fi capable.

I'm guessing (hoping) that the THC will drive weapon with canon lenses without any extra bits. (Maybe we are thinking the same thing Mr. Brillante). The THC is such a solid handset and I would prefer it or a mini version of it over a third party solution.

I think the THC uses RF, not wifi, so unless they update the THC (or even smarter: Have a hidden bluetooth option in both) my hunch is that unfortunately they won't match out of the box. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

I think it has just wifi, creating an ad-hoc network for remote control using foolcontrol or similar apps...

That's the part (the second antenna) that I think it's not included in Weapon cameras...so no THC goodness I think...

I hope I misunderstood---I need the Redlink Module on the weapon again, so I can use the THC the same way as I'm using it now?
That would be a mayor letdown. I was thinking, that stuff is now build in and would safe me some weight.
I really hope its not that way and if so, is it possible to put the Redlink on the back of weapon?

I payed in the first week at NAB for Carbon and 8K because of this.
If its not I think I've to rethink my order or maybe wait till its working.

May someone from Red respond to this?

AFAIK Weapon has wifi built in. Wifi works well for iphone control with app but it's not so good for low latency, low interruption controls such as focus control on lenses. That's why THC uses other protocol similar to other systems such as preston, bartech, etc. That is the function of WMD box- to
1. Supply the power to the motors
2. supply the control signal to the motors
Redlink bridge fulfill similar function for native Red adapters- Canon or Nikon. The adapters supply the power to lenses already so Redlink Bridge needs to supply just the control signal for focus.
External motor control would be more complex as it would become necessary to include a high power motor controller in the camera circuitry. With all the heat/power Red Cameras generate and need I don't think it's a good idea...
It would just put a lot more strain on the already optimized system...

for using the THC or the (hopefully coming) single channel mini THC with Canon and Nikon AF lenses...

I realize that.
However WiFi is RF as well, just one of the RF protocols. RF is a very broad term it means pretty much everything wireless. I doubt they would put a RF Rx only since that would be of very limited use.
Weapon is firmly aimed at the high end- primarily PL lens domain. It doesn't make sense to put in a component for a different market segment...
