  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks

I am here to find a solution. Whoever has experience should speak, and from here he speaks only for his personal affiliation. He does not have a camera, so he does not enter and speak. I think that the price of the camera can't stand talking much.
You are talking to several very experienced people who provided some guidance. You have written words with no sample images to inspect or even a general workflow so we can pin down any issues you may be having. Many people wouldn't have even provided as much as they already have.

I'm not trying to be rude here, but if you are looking for more help, please provide images and ideally some information on your workflow.

You very much have a different colorspace, color gamut and gamma, between those two images. They will not match because they are not the same.

To have the most control, do this.

In REDCINE-X Pro go to: File>IPP2 LUT Creator
Create Medium Contrast/Soft Highlight Roll-Off LUT for Rec.709/BT.1886, select 65 for size. This LUT is known as an Output Transform LUT.
You will want to put this in Resolve's LUT folder so the software knows where it is.

In DaVinci Resolve create a new project with Color Management settings (File>Project Settings>Color Management)
Timeline Color Space = REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10
Output Color Space = Rec.709/Gamma 2.4

Scroll down while in Color Management and under Lookup Tables, ensure 3D Lookup Table Interpolation is set to "Tetrahedral". (I just recommend this for all cameras)

In the same Project Settings Menu, go to "Camera Raw".
Select RED from the pulldown.
Then in Project Settings select "IPP2", Color Space REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10.
I like to also tick the checkboxes for "Use Camera Metadata".

Then import your footage, it will look flat, apply your Output Transform LUT and you will have the same as REDCINE-X Pro. Export to Rec.709/Gamma 2.4 and it will look the same.

You can also use Gamma 2.2 if that is what you prefer or desire. Most SDR work is BT.1886/Gamma 2.4 in 2025 however.

These steps are also for Mac. ? Yes?

The color matched but the export did not match.

Fadel, I'd conclude that this is no longer a hardware question.

I'd therefore ask you to redirect your questions about software configuration to either:
  1. your own research and efforts
  2. a trained professional
  3. both
You'll be delighted to find that all the information you need is on the internet.

If you assume that this is still a hardware issue, it would be best to contact RED or your local dealer and send your device in for QC/repair.
If you're in warranty and the device is not damaged from mishandling on your side, you might only pay for shipping.

I'm sure that you won't be needing us anymore and you'll figure anything else out for youself.

Good luck on your endeavors. It's been a pleasure to help you find out what you have to do.

The color matched but the export did not match.
Did you apply the output color LUT as per Phil's suggested workflow? (Phil: "Then import your footage, it will look flat, apply your Output Transform LUT and you will have the same as REDCINE-X Pro. Export to Rec.709/Gamma 2.4 and it will look the same".)

I give up it seems that working with 8k file is not the best thing the color match but export not same as i see it's ok thanks so much

Can you help me how to adjust the color in davinci resolve mac display I shoot everything beautifully but when I use davinci resolve everything is destroyed and I spend a long time just correcting the time and when exporting everything is destroyed is there a specialist here to help me solve this problem. The matter is serious my work has been greatly affected .
