  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks to 300...

I want to thank the 300 that attended our humble Scarlet presentation in Stage 6 at RED Studios Hollywood tonight.

So I went back into Stage 6 and asked the 300 there to help us get the message out. Out popped the iPhones and iPads. And the twittering began.

Jim

Thanks for that. It was awesome, I think between Tonaci & Joseph, I was able to get all the info on time. Thanks to everyone who tweeted.

To the DNS attackers: Go f#^k yourselves. Seriously. ;)

I was there.
When the announcement came, I was shocked at first.
I was looking forward for the Scarlet previously previewed at NAB so much, that the complete redefinition of Scarlet was first and foremost shocking to me.
Had to take it all in and process...

Today, I stepped into the Red store and gathered some more information, and then went to the Canon event, to check out the c300, as well as some Canon lenses to possibly use with Scarlet.
The c300's form factor is great, and its light weight (3.5lb) is good too, however, after watching the footage they were showing at the Canon event it very quickly occurred to me that the new Canon c300 is no match to Scarlet. not even somewhat close. Not even if they were priced the same. The dynamic range was not nearly as good (some harsh highlights), the colors were not as natural (seemed somewhat hyped in ALL footage shown, including 3 different films of various genres, that I watched there), the recorded resolution and compression (4:2:2 vs. RedCode RAW), and the most extreme of all - NOISE. Just as much as Epic (and therefore the new Scarlet) provides a noiseless smooth and detailed image, the c300 is just unbelievably noisy by comparison. If I never seen Red footage, I probebly wouldn't have known better, but after seeing the light (Epic footage), the noise levels of the c300 seemed unacceptable.

Congratulations Jim and everyone in the Red family!
You have redefined the visual expectations and raised the bar to what a digital cinema camera can be, to where it has never been before.
You also redefined the type of price range professional cameras are expected to hit.
This is truly a meaningful revolution, and as a filmmaker, I'm deeply grateful.

THANK YOU!

With you now and always,

Yuval

Thank you Jim and the Red team for this Scarlet; my heart is so happy I have tears in my eyes.

Tonight was a night I will never forget. And I have had some pretty good moments. When I was spewing out the specs... I looked over to see who was busy on their iPhones and iPads. It was incredible. When I gave the price... everyone looked up, smiled, and then pushed the keys hard.

These are moments that one lives for...

Jim

Truly an unforgettable night! It was a privilege to witness how elegantly the curveball that was thrown RED's way was handled. When the website was not loading, and it was obvious something was very wrong, it was wonderful to see how sure everyone was at the event that we would do whatever it took to help overcome the challenge and get the word out.

These are the stories that define the character of this company and it's leadership. Yet again, RED has shown they are committed to their customers. The announcement of 4K S35 starting under $10K was stunning... however, the memory of banding together alongside 300 RED enthusiasts... priceless.

Thanks again, Jim.

It actually turned into a good thing that we got raided. The 300 turned into a team on a mission to help us get the word out. It was really impressive to see everyone step up to solve the problem.

I cannot think of a better example of a THREAT BEING CONVERTED INTO AN OPPORTUNITY...Well done RED TEAM...

I'm extremely happy with the turn you guys took with the Scarlet. I liked it that much, that the company I work for decided to get one. So, after many a year lurking in the shadows of these fora, I can finally say that I'll be part of this community as an owner, no longer having to rent. Thanks RED!

Any mention of the factory tour you talked about on the 3rd? Would love to see everything in action! Once again, amazing night. Can't wait to see what happens as all this moves forward.

Not good news from a bunch of hackers crashing the party, clearly some one feel under threat, we were hanging on to Tonaci Trans blog and was covered very well, No delay and we didn't feel left out. Thanks very much for this Tonaci.

Let us know who perpetrated this attack please.

I was one of the 300!

Me 2!

Not at all! My wife and I slapped it together while talking about photoshop jokes from the Early 2000's. We did this while eating leftovers from our Chinese food lunch.

Ulimately it's just a goofball mashup of images culled from the web with a little vignette fade action haha

Congratulations on the turnout, Jim! Really wish I could have been there for that, still have yet to visit RED Studios in Hollywood. Definitely on the To-Do List!

BTW, Dan, love the modified "300" pic, that's hilarious!

Big thanks to Tonaci and Mike Seymour, I was "watching" the announcement through their tweets after reduser got slammed.

does anyone have a follow focus solution designed for Scarlet/Epic that will work with canon lenses?
