  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks to 300...

Haha! I wish I knew to look for his tweets. When it turned out that RedUser and FXPHD were down I got my info from nofilmschool.com.

Hey guys! It was a blast being able to send intel from inside the bunker. Pretty much every info tweet i did was miliseconds after Jim shared them with us. =)
Another historic event I am grateful I could attend. Can't wait for NAB..as I'm sure Jim will have more surprises in store.

Never a dull moment at Red Studios Hollywood!
I have to reiterate..the Peter Lik blowup is freakin a masterpiece.

A BIG BIG thank you Tonaci. (and to the rest of the tweeters, but I followed Tonaci). You took a big sacrifice so the world can follow along. I feel you weren't able to watch and enjoy the Scarlet presentation due to all the typing. Amount of info pouring from your tweets was fenomenal. It was like being there. Thanks again.

I predicted Lulzsec, but they probably need that camera to film them taking down Facebook...

LOL

Tonight was a night I will never forget. And I have had some pretty good moments. When I was spewing out the specs... I looked over to see who was busy on their iPhones and iPads. It was incredible. When I gave the price... everyone looked up, smiled, and then pushed the keys hard.

These are moments that one lives for...

Jim

Congratulations Jim to you and your team.

What has impressed me the most above and beyond the amazing specs of the new Scarlet-X is that you have delivered on your original dream of producing a modular camera that is adaptable and upgradeable.

As stated at launch the Scarlet-X is the sister to the Epic. To point out the obvious to consumers this means she is part of the family where accessories like LCD Screen, Viewfinder, Batteries, SSD Modules, Redmote, Mounting Plates etc can all be shared. If better resolution and framerates are required an upgrade to the sensor (Brain) and/or firmware is all that is required.

The Scarlet-X has the same native dynamic range as the Epic - Wow!

Well done.

Congratulations!!!
Can I have a Scarlet too? I see a 3D workflow coming below $25k

it was pretty amazing to be there and bond with people over the anxious wait for the announcement. as hectic as it was in the moment, so glad that things turned out the way they did and really happy to have helped get the word out on the twittersphere.

That's where I ended up having to get my Scarlet updates as well.

Congratulations Jim and everyone at Red. And a big thanks to the 300.

I just love how the legend of Red is growing. It's an awesome thing to watch such an epic story take place.

That formation in 300 is called a Phalanx. A group of individuals coming together for a common purpose. That's where we got the name for our company, Phelanx.

it took me 40 minutes of refreshing but I still ordered my Scarlet, without knowing the specs. I was surprised when I saw 11k but I just said fuck it, I trust RED.

I want to thank the 300 that attended our humble Scarlet presentation in Stage 6 at RED Studios Hollywood tonight.

Apparently there was a cyber attack on reduser (and red.com) when I began posting just before 6pm PST. There was plenty of bandwidth to handle the traffic... but the system locked up. Jarred is investigating.

So I went back into Stage 6 and asked the 300 there to help us get the message out. Out popped the iPhones and iPads. And the twittering began.

A good message is hard to stop. And the Scarlet message is a good one.

It actually was a great experience. Like ants getting to the honey, if one way doesn't work... you keep trying different ways until you succeed.

We had another attack at 2:45am. Jarred figured out a work around.

I guess we are striking a nerve with someone. Good for us. No matter what happens we will find a way. That is RED.

It was a great night. Obstacles are a part of everything. We embrace them as part of the process.

Thanks again to those that came to RED. You were more a part of history than you planned.

Jim

I was on for four hours and not once did I get to see the redirected content, pretty bad show by the attackers. I could not get to load the movie on this thing anyway, as a number of people out on phones might have had.

Red could make a mailing list and at the moment of the announcement order an hidden remote server to send out the emails, update a blog, Facebook, and Twitter. As the remote server is unknown and receives the information and command at the last second from a previously closed down hidden phone, the hackers have little idea of how to stop it until it is hopefully too late. Even if they do manage to figure out the server, the moment they block it you know they are somehow connected to someone sent an email so far, or as far internet process (when intervening servers see you sending out heaps of near identical emails they may mark you as spam server or email address. So it is also useful to use an unknown email address and domain name so they don't know the address and submit it as spam before hand. I don't know the logistics of spam recognition timing, if you can get through tens of thousands of emails before it kicks in, but you can get more server domains and see which one gets blocked, further restricting the list involved. Then you can use individual addresses to individual users, now, if they are stupid, they will try to block the address used to send to them (but a number of normal people will also), revealing their identity, instead of submitting the server as. After it is finished you close domain and server and use a different one next time.

The setup must had slowed things a bit, I was trying to open forum, then recon, then the announcement page and feedback, then the redirect, and red.com scarlet product page etc, a lot of traffic. Actually got my info off redmodz, I was surprised they were not swamped wit people that could not get onto the forum. Why not just a prearranged webpage blog on separate server?

Thanks again Jim, incase I missed it during all this tiredness and frustration of the last couple of days, congratulations (and did you announce the 3D camera feature?).

Its always intersting to me what stands out to people. My two cents.

1. Sliders, Meatballs, and Cookies were awsome!
2. Vibe and Crowd is the least egotistical in LA! Great Camraderie! Great People!
3. Drama, free of charge! (I'm a Director/Actor) I love it!
4. Jim stepped up like a champ! (Personally I'm glad I heard the anouncement firsthand from Him) Something this important deserves to be spoken!
5. Graeme - educated me and my crew for about a half an hour straight, further demonstrating the intregrity and accountability of Red (which is simply a group of great, passionate people)
6. Oh and the Scarlet-X is pretty damn sick! But you already knew that!

Quotes of the night:
Me: Thank You for creating a company that gives people like me an oppurtunity to make films on a high level!
Jim: You are very welcome. I'm having lots of Fun doing it!

Me: Thanks for educating me once again!
Graeme: Your Welcome, Go make me pretty pictures!

And people wonder why I love this company!

They can keep their $10M event to promote an out dated product. I'll take my Sliders, Meatballs, Cookies, and a Sacrlet-X!

Wayne... I like this idea. Good Job :)

For what its worth:

All that were delayed in information were honestly not delayed that much longer than any of us there.

We just helped out a bit. ; )

Thanks for the information Brent. I sent a message to Jarred as I'm a first time buyer with many questions about the ordering process. Some were answered at the event. This answers a few more of them.
