  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Teradek RT at NAB 2018

$3k for the single channel

New 3 Channel handset later this year

New single channel controller has same 1500m range as current 3-axis controller, but has full lens mapping. Almost double the price at $3k. Arri-style rosette on side at top, I think aimed at mounting the new SmallHD Focus RX. 5-pin Lemo (for wired mode) and firmware USB port hidden up top. New chunky WCU-sized focus knob ... maybe talk of this knob being available to retro-fit the current controllers.

There was beta firmware running on some MK3.1 controllers with lens mapping, but with limited circuit board memory, it means 2 ... maybe 3 ... lens maps can be stored at any time. Updating the boards doesn't sound like a priority, but maybe with enough of us, we could persuade them to reconsider. I know I would certainly upgrade the PCB in my controller to get lens mapping. Totally worth it.

New motor will be stronger and faster, push button will allow you to cycle thru F, I and Z assignments, maybe a long push could run a 'Recalibrate' function. Daisy chain out to other motors (new and old). Either Lemo port can be used for in/out. Looks like straight Lemo plugs would be better suited since they are angled downwards. Same rod bracket as current motor.

Mention of different torque level selection in upcoming firmware.

Also talk of new gears that will be tool-less and quick-on-off.

More news will come shortly after NAB. I believe most SmallHD monitors with a USB port should be able to use the Teradek RT OSD.

Oooh thanks for the info Nick. I would totally be down with upgrading the board. Or have some sort of trade-in program for our old controllers. Lens mapping's a big deal for me.

Any updates to the MDR or motors coming? I was about to buy a system but can wait for a new controller at least.

Everything should be coming in July provided there are no parts delays!

My question was more along the lines of whether or not the MDR and motors are receiving updates, or just the controller?

The existing motors will not be receiving any new updates in the short term. The current MDRs and motors will be compatible with the new RT gear coming out.
