New Features
- Added Time Code support
- Added Record flag passthrough – Supports RED (start/stop and filename), Arri, Canon,
and Sony (start/stop only)
- Added dynamic fan control
-- Fan remains off while the unit is cool, turns on only when necessary
-- Fan turns off when recording starts (with supported cameras, see above)
-Added SMPTE 352M packets to SDI output
Changes and Improvements
- Receiver link LED blinks when searching
- Simplified pairing process
Known Issues
- Time code is only sent to the first connected receiver
- No support for mismatched time code and video formats (e.g. 24fps time code in a
1080i59 signal)
Supported Hardware
- Bolt Pro SDI models only
- Hardware revisions
-- TX – Rev. F or later, serial numbers 72001000 and up
-- RX – Time Code support – Rev. C or later (serials 72501000 and up)
-- RX – Fan Control support – Rev. E or later (serials 72501600 and up)
*If your receiver does not support fan control, select ‘update with NO fan control’ when
upgrading.
My Personal Notes:
The firmware update procedure did NOT go smoothly. However, it does not brick the unit if it fails. (PHEW).
If (when) it fails, the retries will likely fail as well. Start the procedure over from the beginning, including closing the firmware utility completely and opening it back up. (Make sure the screen says completed before assuming it's good to go, and keep retrying regardless if it says it's already 2.0. It must say completed to be successfully flashed.)
Always hold the reset button for 10 seconds when powering the unit. They say to hold until it flashes twice or 10 seconds, but I had best luck just holding for 10 seconds.
I did not have to re-link the TX-RX units after the firmware update: they automatically reconnected.
I had to attempt the first TX unit 8 times before it finally took. Again, make sure the screen says completed before assuming it's good to go, and keep retrying regardless if it says it's already 2.0 when restarting. It must say completed to be successfully flashed.
