  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tarkovsky online

Stalker.

The Mirror.

Thoughts : Totally incredible films.

I think these are out now (mid 2015) in EU on Blu Ray (distribution via Artificial Eye)
Japanese Blu Ray (also released mid 2015) has Japanese subtitles.

My favorite director. I remember the first time I saw Stalker like it was yesterday, then I started learning some Russian so I didn't have to sit through the films listening to what sounded like complete gibberish. In response to one of the prior postings - we're extremely lucky because Tarkovsky was able to use the Soviet system to his ends, but he did have a tremendous amount of trouble with it.

I actually came across someone that had a Blu ray from Japan of Stalker on Reddit. They posted a few screen captures and it really was clear that it wasn't just the Criterion on a blu ray. Looked great. Hoping it is released world wide soon.

because the insult people. but a moderator breaking the law gets a free pass??

inregards to the comment about stealing for educational purposes? if you want to study a Monet or Picasso
you have plenty if options doing that- same with Tarkovsky - but stealing a Picasso off the wall and bringing it back home is not one of them.
stealing is stealing end of discussion.

Actually, it is a commonly noted fact that Picasso and Appolinaire stole two statuettes from the Louvre, in order to study them and it took years for the authorities to get them back. Later, Picasso said that he "borrowed them" for educational purposes.
So maybe what's good enough for Picasso, is good enough for us.

.... in his own book he talks about how tough it is to reach his audience through traditional narrow release in Cinemas.

I bet if he put his stuff on-line he would reach a larger audience...
