  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tangent Wave, REDCINE-X & REDROCKET

that set-up doesn't have a conform tool, yet. just sayin'...

not that it isn't great, I have a very similar set-up. but DVS Clipster will still do certain things that our souped-up budget set-ups won't.

Jeff, I think I read that same comment, but I'm hoping that they released REDCINE-X first, to serve the greater populace, since not everyone has a Rocket card yet, putting in my vote to keep ROCKETCINE-X alive, it is great for fast footage reviews and is still optimized for speedier playback and rendering.

Also want them to add a text/notes section...a la Clipfinder - that can be saved in a document format that could be sent down the editorial pipeline.

Yeah, you got me there. I just saw that too.

Now I'm trying to remember where I read the other info. I know who typed it, but I don't want to say anything more until I find it. Especially since it looks like it is not accurate, or at least not going to happen any time soon.

Yeaaah,

It's happening in a small shape right now and tomorrow will get even bigger...

I am just writing what I see in front of me right now. It's about totally new feeling and life with

real-time grading and fast conforming R3D files that I didn't experience before.

REDCINE-X is still in early beta and of course with a little help from the third apps like a Clipfinder , Crimson, R3D Data Manager, etc,...

it could be one day very soon like a small scaled or cut version of DVS CLIPSTER DI RED System.

Hans-Georg could change that for us soon...I hope they're shooting the SDK to him first...

Gee, seems we're betting on the same horse...

Not too strange, considering that Clipfinder is the smartest "new" app for Red Wokflow since... well Crimson...

Interface Issue

Interface Issue

To Tangent Wave Owners:

Just got my Wave yesterday, working with Redcine-X, what a godsend!

The Issue:

When I'm using my Master lift, gamma and gain controls (the scrollwheels) they do not register in the image until I move the corresponding Differential lift, gamma or gain control (the trackballs). I've restarted Redcine-X and rebooted my computer to no avail. Is anyone else having this issue?

You are right that's the issue.

Thanks Deanan! and thanks SO MUCH for putting in Lift Gamma Gain and Wave support in the first place! I'm living in my studio right now!!!!

Deanan and RED...
Thanks for listening to all of us. This is a huge step in the right direction!!!
I heard some rumors that you have some pretty amazing software that will be coming out.

Sanjin,
Want to ask you if you are using the DVI out from Redrocket card or only AJA output/input?

I'm trying to understand if there is ANY advantage to using the Redrocket output direct to a monitor. Seems that you only get use of THAT monitor while using REDCINE-X OR ROCKETCINE-X. So if you are using another output devise that gives you 10bit or 12 bit output via HDMI or HD-SDI, WHY USE the REDROCKET DVI outputs? I'm not connecting 4 of them to a 4k projector---from my understanding at this point, there is no advantage to using the DVI out of REDROCET card to a monitor since it is only 8 bit output AND you only get use of that monitor when using RED'S software, so effectively you loose that monitor for all other computing...unless you keep manually switching it by hand. So again, i don't see how the output from REDROCKET card has any advantage over say AJA card or in my case MXO2 breakout box with hd-sdi and hdmi and component output to a monitor and also color calibration tools (blue channel only) etc....

....Would love to hear your comments on this and how you are using.

I use dual HD-SDI out from RedRocket to AJA Hi5-3G HD-SDI to HDMI converter and then plugged to HP DreamColor (Calibrated with X-Rite HP calibrator).

Dual/Quad DVI keep for future 4K LCD...or 4 cheap{o} LCDs to put together...

just a question, why not go HD-SDI out to AJA and then to hdmi? guess it does not matter how you get there, but just thinking less cables...and hd-sdi out to aja and then back out to hdmi gives you ten bit yes?

I'm trying to NOT go out via the rocket card and use my mxo2 card to go out to hdmi to calibrated plasma display. This way i can still use my dual monitors in other apps like FCP.

That's exactly what I wanted to say but maybe my English is not so good...sorry...

no...partially my mistake. You said DUAL HD-SDI...and my brain thought dual DVI...but yes there is dual hd-sdi out. I guess you can use BOTH hd-sdi out for 4k then? one is enough for ten bit i believe.

Thanks Sanjin,

So you can only use your dreamcolor while using redcine-x and rocket-x? You have to unplug it or plug back into your video card if you want to use with FCP?

You can not leave it plugged into the video card AND rocket card at same time yes?
