  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Vico,

the balls work with Lift, Gamma and Gain.

RED Rocket™™™™ lit and your only getting 2.173fps? :-/ :-o

Love the paintbrush ;)

I think fps are not accurate counted because any movement has "natural" speed.

Vico,

the balls work for Lift, Gamma and Gain adjustments.

Great post! thanks for sharing.

I assume you can assign the functions to the top knobs?

9 x Function buttons labelled F1 to F9.

For fast access to frequently used functions.

Any luck on Euphonix "MC Color"?

Jason,

i didn't make anything special except downloaded the newest beta REDCINE_X build 84

http://red.cachefly.net/redcinex/REDCINE-X_build_84.zip

removed the older versions from computer, installed build 84.

launched REDCINE-X and have got REDCINE-X on Tangent Wave displays.

There is no any plug-in.

The FPS readout in REDCINE-X is like a current status thing and acts kinda weird. When you hit play the footage starts playing real time, but the FPS counter ramps up as if it has some sort of averaging and when you stop, it tapers off at times and often reports some low number like that even sitting there idle.

I will say though, when playing back 4K RC36 at full res, full quality debayer, I'm topping out at about 17~19fps. Even with the latest build. It seems there's something holding back Rocket performance in REDCINE-X. Probably the code is just not optimized and still full of a lot of debug info and processes. ROCKETCINE-X plays back much faster and always has, but it's basically been EOL'd and it looks like it's all REDCINE-X from here on out.

No we don't know this for sure at this time I guess. I saw a comment about it recently around here. Ultimately ROCKETCINE was to get us all up and running with the ROCKET and will eventually be retired.

do we know this for sure, Jeff? - has RED confirmed or is that an assumption? I'd sure hate to see it dropped, I really like RocketCine-X.

I had been under the same impression Jeff was, but Deanan just said:

"REDcineX is the first app out.
RocketcineX will be released also with new color support"

So I dunno.

that set-up doesn't have a conform tool, yet. just sayin'...

not that it isn't great, I have a very similar set-up. but DVS Clipster will still do certain things that our souped-up budget set-ups won't.

Jeff, I think I read that same comment, but I'm hoping that they released REDCINE-X first, to serve the greater populace, since not everyone has a Rocket card yet, putting in my vote to keep ROCKETCINE-X alive, it is great for fast footage reviews and is still optimized for speedier playback and rendering.

Also want them to add a text/notes section...a la Clipfinder - that can be saved in a document format that could be sent down the editorial pipeline.

Yeah, you got me there. I just saw that too.

Now I'm trying to remember where I read the other info. I know who typed it, but I don't want to say anything more until I find it. Especially since it looks like it is not accurate, or at least not going to happen any time soon.

Yeah, I'm almost postive that I red one of the Red Boys say that RocketCine was an interim solution to use the Rocket until the next app up which would subsume both RedCine and RocketCine... and that appeared to be RedCine-X.

The way it was described, it sounded like it would be a superset of all the previous apps, and would simply take advantage of Rocket acceleration if present, and fall back to software/GPU if not.

Thanks Jeff.
