I'd just like to be the first to say this video, and by extension yourself, is a crime against humanity... :-D
(sorry, had to be "first!" on that, heheh)

Great shooting (pun intended). Really incredible imagery here. Thanks for sharing!

Hahaha...your humor is always appreciated Shawn.

In the shots at night with the full auto you can see just how bad the rolling shutter thing can get. But I was just shooting at 1/48th and some other shutter angle might diminish the effect. Next time I'm filming something like this at night I'll make sure to do some tests.

The high frame rate shots look amazing! great work!
I get my hands on a red one for the first time next week and I cant wait!

Make sure to do your research on the camera and read the instruction manuel front to back. It helps a lot. Also if this is a project I would suggest having someone with the camera that knows it until you feel more comfortable with it.

this is awesome as reference footage. cheers. I didn't realize how much muzzle smoke comes out on a clear day. Guess i need to go shooting to find out.

The smoke depends on the lighting and the type of rounds you are shooting. Blanks will give you more smoke and some of the overseas ammo like Wolf is a little dirtier.

I once sang Carmina Burana as a Treble when I was a young lad in the Royal Opera House in London... no gun demonstrations there, which was shame, it might have livened up the performance.

Great footage, I like the slow mo case ejections. What frame rate was that at?
Also, are the air disturbances seen on the long shots real or post?

Great stuff! Is this a 416 or 417?

I don't think that the H&Ks come in that short a barrel (7") Jim. I believe that may be a registered lower with a standard M-16 upper.

Regardless, the fireball from a barrel that short is impressive.

The air distortions from the .338 Lapua and the .50 BMG were real. I believe its a phenomenon called "trace". You can see it with a spotting scope but of course its moving much faster. It was shot at 120fps with my 80-200mm Nikon Zoom.

The upper receiver is a 7.5" Saber Defense with the Adams Arms Piston System on it. It was also on a full auto lower that we had on loan from the Scottsdale Gun Club. We ran so many rounds through that rifle without a problem. A couple 80 round mag dumps.

In May we are going to torture that upper again along with some other gear that wants to be featured in the next video.

Nice shots! Can't d/l the vid cuz I'm on my work pc, but will definitely check it out at home. Really like the first pic attached.

Curious, and maybe a dumb question, but what's the final use for a project like this? Private training vid, (public) enthusiast, advertisment...

Its kind of an ad with a nice healthy splash of gun porn. Its not promoting a certain product or anything like that. I like to think of it as a wow type of video that will make people want to go to the Tactical Coordination website and buy from them...once their site is up and running.

I think this thread will be alot better if people stop commenting on Kristin Stewart's post.

The air being pushed by that .50 is insane.

What other lenses did you use Andrew?

Yeah the .50 does push a lot of air but the .338 Lapua round was booking it. I was trying to get the same thing at a 1000 yards but the bullet just moves to far away. Maybe if I had a 400-600mm lens I might be able to get that trace out that far.

I'm sure most if not all of you saw the ricochet that cut down that jumping cactus. Of course that was after the explosive round busted through a half inch of steal. There really is no where to hide with that round.:gun:

The air distortion of those rounds is absolutely incredible, great work capturing it. It reminds me of the rail gun from Quake 2.

The night full auto shots were pretty frackin cool as well, although it would be nice to get more illumination on the shooters face to see their facial expression (of pure childlike joy playing with a seriously cool toy?), would it be possible to set up a reflector to capture the actual muzzelflash to illuminate the shot?
