  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Suspected scam: anyone ever heard of BB List?

actually, i think i should also say "has anyone heard of bblist?" is a legitimate question"

.. whereas "suspected scam: has anyone heard of bblist? (even though i have not had any business with them and have risked nothing?) ..is unfare, rude, bad form ie, VERY BAD FORM MIKE!! ..you're a fireman right? .. why you so scared of the world is the real question? ..fear is not always useful..

egon, I think you should lay off the sauce a little before posting :-)

I made it perfectly clear why I was suspicious in my first post, most particularly that they insist on payment in full before they will 'let' you meet the seller and inspect the goods. What legit seller would insist on you paying in full, and only by bank wire, before they would let you inspect the item in person??!! That screams 'scam', and several posters agreed it was highly suspect. But we also heard from people who actually knew them, and insisted they were legit.

Well it turns out they ARE legit, just very peculiar. I won't use them again, I think - too much hassle. They don't take Paypal! I had a huge amount of hassle, and a lot of wasted time and expense in calls to my bank in the UK, because they would only accept a direct electronic bank wire straight to their account. A lot of hassle and delay. Seriously unimpressed.

I have dealt with BBlist almost 8 yrs ago and they were clean then. Its like our forum where sellers post and you buy through Bblist who take a brokarage once you have bought. Not to worry.

BBlist is excellent.

I bought a tripod. It was shipped out to New Zealand. When it arrived it was in terrible condition, and nothing like the listing. Because of the escrow, and Barry I was able to return it for a full refund with no problem.

I highly recommend it.

With regards to the use of Comic Sans, I hereby present to you this monologue by Mike Lacher:

I’M COMIC SANS, ASSHOLE.

Listen up. I know the shit you’ve been saying behind my back. You think I’m stupid. You think I’m immature. You think I’m a malformed, pathetic excuse for a font. Well think again, nerdhole, because I’m Comic Sans, and I’m the best thing to happen to typography since Johannes fucking Gutenberg.

You don’t like that your coworker used me on that note about stealing her yogurt from the break room fridge? You don’t like that I’m all over your sister-in-law’s blog? You don’t like that I’m on the sign for that new Thai place? You think I’m pedestrian and tacky? Guess the fuck what, Picasso. We don’t all have seventy-three weights of stick-up-my-ass Helvetica sitting on our seventeen-inch MacBook Pros. Sorry the entire world can’t all be done in stark Eurotrash Swiss type. Sorry some people like to have fun. Sorry I’m standing in the way of your minimalist Bauhaus-esque fascist snoozefest. Maybe sometime you should take off your black turtleneck, stop compulsively adjusting your Tumblr theme, and lighten the fuck up for once.

People love me. Why? Because I’m fun. I’m the life of the party. I bring levity to any situation. Need to soften the blow of a harsh message about restroom etiquette? SLAM. There I am. Need to spice up the directions to your graduation party? WHAM. There again. Need to convey your fun-loving, approachable nature on your business’ website? SMACK. Like daffodils in motherfucking spring.

When people need to kick back, have fun, and party, I will be there, unlike your pathetic fonts. While Gotham is at the science fair, I’m banging the prom queen behind the woodshop. While Avenir is practicing the clarinet, I’m shredding “Reign In Blood” on my double-necked Stratocaster. While Univers is refilling his allergy prescriptions, I’m racing my tricked-out, nitrous-laden Honda Civic against Tokyo gangsters who’ll kill me if I don’t cross the finish line first. I am a sans serif Superman and my only kryptonite is pretentious buzzkills like you.

It doesn’t even matter what you think. You know why, jagoff? Cause I’m famous. I am on every major operating system since Microsoft fucking Bob. I’m in your signs. I’m in your browsers. I’m in your instant messengers. I’m not just a font. I am a force of motherfucking nature and I will not rest until every uptight armchair typographer cock-hat like you is surrounded by my lovable, comic-book inspired, sans-serif badassery.

Enough of this bullshit. I’m gonna go get hammered with Papyrus.

What's so objectionable about Comic Sans anyway?

Years ago I was filing in a spreadsheet sent by our supplier which covered the details of an order totalling over 750K of business per year. The whole thing was in Comic Sans, and our supplier was a major multi-national, which caused much amusement around the office.
