I WAS JUST KNOCKED OUT CAIL
Which shots were yours ?
Blustery day in Melbourne today

Just checked the QT on the Mac side of my MacPro, it looks miles better. There are still a few shots that are noisy, not as bad as under Bootcamp though. Color grade looks much better as well. You may want to stick a note on there about the Gamma issues - Mac vs PC.

I'm just now getting around to seeing this footage... Looks fantastic! I can't imagine what it must have looked like on a 4K projection.

And I was laughing throughout the whole "don't vote" bit at the end! Great job, everyone.

So why is that so, what dickhead decided the gamma issue. I may just do a podcast that tracks down these people that decide these issues and ask them why. PCI-X and PCI-E naming convention is another one. Shee end of rant.

MOV to MP4 for PS3 display: filesize lower due to audio

MOV to MP4 for PS3 display: filesize lower due to audio

Even using the QT Pro passthrough that reduced the file size somewhat the footage was still remarkable.

I converted to .mp4 using passthrough and noticed the filesize change- I think I know why. The original uses uncompressed audio at 1536 kb/s and the piece is 8:02 long, that's quite a bit of data!

The original Quicktime .mov file is 447.90 MB, which contains:
video track: 315.37 MB format: H.264
sound track: 132.52 MB format: uncompressed

If you export this from QT Pro to a MP4 using passthrough, the video is untouched but the audio gets compressed. You get a 322.29 MB MP4 file which contains:
video track: 315.39 MB format: H.264
sound track: 6.91 MB format: AAC

QT Pro allows you to set the bitrate of your AAC audio, but it does not give the option of uncompressed audio in a MP4 container.

does anyone know where some of those shots came from? is there a list anywhere? Here's the ones I came up with:

0:30 - CSI Miami (on a side note, I hate how they butcher physics and science in general on that show)

0:36 - various celebs - Steven Spielbergs vote thing

0:45 - Pussycat Dolls music video (duh)

0:56 - TNT's Leverage

1:00 - another Pussycat Dolls music video

To the Parents of Jimmy (James) Jannard,

It has come to the attention of the administration that your son has been overly social and disruptive in class. While we do understand that boys will be boys we became increasingly concerned when your son Jim announced one day in class he was going to make a camera. The other children started to tease Jim and taunt him, and the teacher did her best to control this behavior but it continued causing undue chaos and resentment. Unfortunately after being spoken to in the hall, Jim did little to resolve this issue and take back his childish claim. We sought diligently to persuade little Jim that these fantasies, while normal, can have a negative effect upon his development and good standing in the classroom. Nevertheless your son James persisted and grew increasingly stubborn and resolute about his claim. I understand that, while he did keep up on his school assignments, Jim and a few of his friends [those he tricked into participating in this scheme] were staying up well past their bedtime working on this project in their clubhouse.

The day Jim annouced the camera was ready the class still laughed and it is reported this made Jim even madder. It's true Mr. & Mrs. Jannard, your son James did make a camera, but the project was and still is outside the accepted boundaries of this administrations policies and principles. Given his obstinate demeamnor and his obsessive focus we decided to look into this matter more closely.

As a result of this recent photographic display of Jim's unauthorized project we have decided to drop the pending detention charges and remove the bad behavior marks, but we expect Jim to no longer pursue this project and return to his former status as a respectful and well minded student who will accept authority and obey the established order.

It is with my full confidence in your acceptance of this practical resolution that this matter be put to rest and that this matter shall be deemed resolved with your full cooperation.

Sincerely,

Mr. Sony Kodak
Superintendent of Compliance and Submission.

Ah yes, but then you would need a RED RAY to decode it !
