  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Supply chain...

I would have been surprised if Red's supply chain were not affected. As you said in your first post, Jim, the world is very interconnected. Thank you for letting us know.

...we will continue to hold life as more important than business and pray for the people of Japan.

Jim

Exactly. If only everyone in business was as ethically minded.

Manufacturing is tough when you are making something no else has done before. When it comes to adequate vendors, you are already on the short end of the stick. It's not like these parts are down at the local hardware store.

Jim,

Curious, since you are a very successful manufacture in different industries, have any of your companies been ISO registered?

I sure hope if there are any Red whiners who complain about delays due to this tragedy, they get banned.

Thanks for keeping us updated Jim. Your right, right now we need to keep Japan in our prayers.

I tend to agree, especially as the death toll is climbing daily.

It won't be just RED affected. One of my clients can't get any Sony XDCam stock in Sydney. I have a feeling it's going to eventually affect a lot of people but it needs to be held up in light of the human cost before anything else.

I think 'perspective' is required here.

I think we all understand that even though we want or may need these cameras for in the future, we all can get by with out them using what we already have. What is important is that we assist Japan in any way possible sending donations and putting links on our social media outlets to get our friends, coworkers, and family to do the same.

There is a lot going on in the world today..my heard and thought are going to the victims. My condolens to the families, and my support to those who survive.

The people in Japan are truly amazing, staying calm and respectful with each other during this crisis, showing what kind of people they are...how could anyone worry here about a camera delivery....our thoughts and prayers go out to the people there...

+1 well said

Another way to support Japan in the near future is to not move production to other countries. Japan will need a strong economy to rebuild the country.

Amen to that!
There is a massive (and unnecessary) exodus of foreigners from Japan with most Japanese people scratching their heads why...
The last thing Japan needs now is to grind it's economy to hold...

Which is why, if things aren't too bad for foreigners, I will still be going there this summer. If nothing else, to help out (I imagine tourism will take a dip for a time but hopefully the economy won't be too badly damaged!)

Agreed. No idea why so many gaijin jumped ship at the first shake. Home is where the heart is.... and my home is here in Japan. Never gave any thought whatsoever to leaving (it's not in my nature to run anyway). In fact, I headed north with a TV crew to the heart of the disaster....

Back in Tokyo now. I'll post a longer update in the Japan or Off Topic sub-forums.

Cheers,

Paul
