Sounds like you want to make some inexpensive rails. Check McMaster Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/# and http://www.mcmaster.com/#order-history/=etkxk0, the heavy wall aluminum tube 3/4" od is 19.05 mm, so it works in 19mm rod holders that often come up on ebay. Add some 19mm handles and you are good to go. If there were a cheaper and reliable way I would let you know as I'm the ultimate cheap guy. I try to build as much accessory stuff as I can. Apprentice at a machine shop, sweep the floors or do whatever it takes to learn how to build this stuff because you will need to know this in the future, it is just part of cinematography.
Looks like a lot of possibilities there. The second link was broken..what was it of? My grandpa is an engineer and he's got a whole machine shop set up..unfortunately he's in Michigan and I'm in Minnesota otherwise I'd be over there all the time making stuff.
