After a lot of requests I've finally put together a colour grading tutorial. Here is my take on the Summer Blockbuster look. There are a lot of details/small text so its probably best to watch it fullscreen or on Vimeo.

Shot on Epic. Man with gun footage kindly provided by talented cinematographer and reduser Toby Linden - http://dreamland-films.de/

In this tutorial I show you the 2 node subtractive colour setup. And how it's more powerful and precise compared to other techniques commonly used to achieve the blockbuster look such as the push/pull method. This technique is also the foundation to a lot of the looks you see on my site.

Read this blog post for more in-depth information that I couldn't fit into the video: http://juanmelara.com.au/the-summer-blockbuster-colour-grading-tutorial/

I've got a few more ideas for grading tutorials, but happy to take suggestions.

Questions, comments, feedback welcome.

Thanks for making this Juan. Checking it out right now.

Great tutorial :) I've been wanting to get into Resolve, and this was a good way and really easy to follow :) You're a good teacher and the presentation is awesome!
Thanks and I'm looking forward to upcoming tutorials!

This is one of the best Resolve tutorials I've seen. Really informative and you lay it out in a very clear and organized way. Lots of people would pay money for a whole series like this...

Great tutorial!
I just started out in Resolve and tutorials like this are amazing. You´ve crammed so much into 15 minutes, so I got to watch it a few times, but as you say; rather that, than a 30 min film with only 5 min worth of info.
Thank you

Fantastic in-depth tutorial! I love how you give a few examples at the beginning. Now, I'm hungry for more ;) So glad I could contribute my footage.

Great Tutorial Juan! Your generosity is amazing.

I'll make some suggestions for the next ones (just throwing these out there. I completely undertand it's a ton of work to put in for these free tutorials):

These are a couple of films that "look" stuck in my mind. Obviously a lot of it is set design/dressing, props, and costumes. But it would be interesting to see how to get close in cc. Thanks again Juan!

Edit: For some reason a couple screen grabs are not appearing but if you right click and open in a new tab they are functioning.

Thank you Juan, I agree with many others, one of the best Resolve tutorials I've come across. I hope to see more.

Great Tutorial Juan.Thank you for this very interesting tutorial thanks a lot.............
