I still cannot play RED files in Red Player on my new Mac Studio M2 Ultra, RedCine X Pro is fine. No matter the compression, from Komodo or Epic Weapon-Helium, no go. M1 MBP works just fine. Internal or external drive doesn't make a difference, it just sits there and the little buffer spinner never stops.

Which OS? I've seen some weirdness with some versions of Mac OSX.

Will it play back in (say) the free version of Resolve?

Monstro 8K is playing back fine at full debayer for me on an m2 ultra Mac Pro. 60.3.11 and 13.5.1

Edit: Updated to 61.1.2 and same story, plays fine

I did just notice that Metal acceleration appears to not be available in Player as it is in RedCineX. That is strange.

Hopefully we'll get an Apple Silicon native version at some point prior to the heat death of the universe.

Hoped RED Player would be useable with Sonoma, nope. Can't play any RED file at any resolution. Something about my M2 Ultra it doesn't like.

same here, I have to go into RedCineX to view clips. I think RedPlayer just needs to be updated... I'm running Ventura Version 13.5.2 on a maxed out M1 Max Laptop. Redplayer just freezes
