  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Storm freeze after reconecting R3D

I use a basic workflow with Storm_1.0v1b2

1- Import R3D in Storm
2- Offline with Storm with a xml for FCP
3- Edit in FCP
4- Reconnection with R3D in Storm.

Storm import my xml from FCP but when a want to play the new timeline I have no image playing in the editing window and storm freeze.


My config

Mac Pro 2008
14 go ram
OS X 10.5.6
R3D on a 4drive Raid 0

Hi all, we haven't been able to repro this yet. How much data are you reconnecting and is your material on external drives?

Have sent the auto-generated reports, but in my case:

10 minute shortfilm on external FW 800 disk

project allready conformed ro QT proxies (M) shot at 4k 2:1.

SnowLeopard dual 2,8 2008 macpro
 
Same issue here - I've broken things up into 8 minute segments and I am using an internal raid. Freezes when I re-connect media.

I hope the basic in/out and conform tasks will get fixed to the next beta-release.
really looking foreward to use Storm to something usefull...

I'm having the same issue with Beta4
Imported XML and reconnect the media which is on external eSATA drives and it crashes Storm.

Really hope this can be fixed soon.

I try to reconnect 5 clip of few second. All my footage are on internal 4 drive Raid 0

I have post a screencast of the problem here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XTuQBcFNLQ

I have try to do the same thing with another set of R3D footage and it's now working when i do the reconnect, BUT at the end of each clip i have some black frame on the editing mode.

Edit : The black frame go back after a restart of Storm
 
I have posted to the dedicated mailing list but all seems quite on that front.

Any change we can get an update on getting the relinking feature working so we can start conforming projects and get working with Storm?

Or is there another way of doing a conform in Storm that I've missed?
 
yeah I'm in the same boat as you Gunleik, without this major function I can't do any work with it.

Hopefully we hear something about it soon.

Hi Vincent, thank you very much for the youtube clip. I think the issue starts early on and I'm concerned that the media was offline going to FCP even though you generated the proxies. I think this is where it starts to go wrong and probaly has something to do with re-linking in FCP.

That said, it also also appears to give a framerate error/warning when going into FCP. I can't read it as it's a bit small on the screen. Can you send us a screen grab of that and also the XML that you used in the video? I can then get one of our guys here to check the XML for anomalies.

Also is there audio on the youtube clip? I couldn't hear any but wasn't sure if it was my machine.

Finally, I also saw in the video that you tried dragging some clips to the Timeline and it wouldn't allow the drop. This is because the Timeline won't accept mixed framerates. :smile5:

I'll watch the video a few more times for clues.

Hi Rory, As a test, can you try with a single clip? I'd be interested to see if a round trip works with the amount of variables reduced.
