FOUND! WOOOOHOOO!

On Tuesday Feb 14, a FedEx/Kinko's in the San Francisco bay area misplaced my RedMag 4-Pack of 64 gig SSD's. There is a small possibility that the package has legitimately been lost, but more likely the package was stolen. FedEx has no record of the package leaving the store where I dropped it off.

If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated.

of course its nothing to do with red but be nice if they spoke to them on your behalf.. they're kinda a big customer of theirs :-)

And regardless of where it went missing you dropped it off and signed i guess so as far as your concerned it went missing in transit no?

Will keep a look out for these serials. Good luck in finding them. Keep us posted.

One more pair of eyes on the lookout.

Good luck finding your package.

It's a real problem between FedEx and me. Last week I dropped off an expensive shipment at an Authorized FedEx staffed shipping center and asked for a proof that I'd dropped off the box (I do this for every expensive shipment). They always look at me as if I were from outer space. I tell them, what if the shipment goes missing before you scan it into your system, I'd have no proof that I actually dropped off my shipment. It would be my word against theirs. They always answer that this never happens....right.

I find it really strange that they can't provide some kind of receipt or something. We're in 2012....

Hey, Jeff, contact Alan over here at RED - alan - z - at - red - dot - com. He looked into this for you and may have some good news for you :)

I'm not a fanboy, and I don't drink Kool-Aid. But man is it nice to have a place where people like Brent (and Jim, and Jarred, etc.) not only interact with users, but also help solve problems with a sense of urgency. I raise my glass to Brent! (I was going to raise it anyway, but this just gave me a good reason.)

Ive had issues with FedEx before. I believe they automatically insure it for $100 worth unless you get extra insurance for said item.

The serial number for the 4-pack is:
RMP-00644

The serial numbers for each individual cards are:
7501024B75DF1
7501024CAE852
7501024CAE732
7501024CF5B72

Guessing they have a security cam that could prove you dropped it off. Granted, the odds of them using their security footage to replace a 3k item for you are probably low...

Awesome news! RED received my package after all! I guess that the FedEx tracking system totally failed.

Brent, Alan, and Nar... Next time I'm down south... Drinks are on me!

Every time I have dropped off at a Fedex Kinkos they give me a receipt. Even if I have already made up the shipment and payed online when I drop it they scan it right there and hand me proof that they have possession of it. I always thought doing that was overkill but hearing that things like this happen makes me glad I do.

It has been such an ordeal dealing with FedEx. I was relentless though. I have lost work hours and sleep over it. I nagged and nagged until they put an investigator on it. In fact, they're still looking for it!

I wonder if I should wait to let them know? Just kidding... I'll tell them now.

Thanks for all your support guys!

No it's not overkill. In fact, you should take things one step further... If the item your shipping is worth more than the amount the shipper will cover, you should insure it via a third party insurance agent. No matter who your shipping with. FedEx automatically will cover a package for $100. The most they will cover a package for is $500, but you have to declare it. Even that is not guaranteed. From my research over the past week there have been a ton of complaints of FedEx not paying for one reason or another. What ever you can do to cover your ass, do it! Make sure you have proper insurance or get proper insurance. Pack things well too. Shippers can be pretty ruthless with your packages throughout the entire process from what I've seen on YouTube.

In all the FedEx/Kinko's I've been in, they have security cameras. In my case, the manager confirmed that I was in the store.
