  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

But then I asked him what box it was in to see if it had been re-packaged or something and it turns out he left it at the UPS place for them to pack. Odd, so I have to see why he did that.

Checking to to see who the insurance is payable to, but most likely it's him.

Going to to report the brain today but I figured the RED User group has a broader reach so I wanted to post here first.

I'll also check the weight.

Payed through wire transfer.

If Luke has the brain, I just don't have words for that and if he's a scam he's a freaking good one. Dont anyone else buy anything from him until this is resolved.

the fact that he thought he had to take pictures of it being packed, as a foreshadowing of proof send a red flag to me.
every single scam ive heard about on here is with a wire transfer and every time everyone says dont do a wire transfer.

learned that now. I have a personal PayPal but not a business one so wire transfer was the only way.
 
Never do wire transfers. It's a deal breaker. Walk away. Sorry man.
 
I reached out to a couple people in Montreal to see if anyone knows this guy. If you bought off of here on Reduser its odd that he hasn't chimed in to defend himself.
 
found him on facebook, this has to go to the authorities, maybe even a private detective, its grand theft.
i have to say, if it was me i might even show up at his house.

Also, I know I made a huge mistake with the wire transfer and it definitely won't happen again - live and learn and bleed I guess. Thanks for all the suggestions so far ... I posted this issue on here because I've seen the way the community works together and I figured you guys would be my best bet to get this all resolved somehow and get a Raven brain here.

Wire transfers are usually only ok if the Seller has a very good reputation or using the Transfer of Ownership option where you send the camera to Red before doing the transaction. Paypal is good protection for the buyer, but the seller can easily get scammed.
 
Crazy how quickly he sold that camera.

He literally just bought it from me not that long ago.

Where Louis Maddalena lists the RAVEN for sale. Then you see Luke Rob basically acting desperate to buy it. Which apparently he then did.

I don't know... this is weird stuff. Might be time for that Private I.

Yeah I'm part of that group ... thanks for the link. I've reached out to RED and my bomb squad is checking with her sup to see if there is anyway they can help me out.

It's super odd that only the brain would be missing and not all the other accessories.
 
Wire transfers are definitely risky, but I've bought quite a lot of stuff with wire transfer with no problems, BUT only after checking the seller extensively.

If he/she has very little verifiable reputation or online presence, or anything smells remotely fishy, I won't do wire transfer, or PayPal gift.

I know this guy.
I was going to buy the EXACT set through Facebook. I refused wire transfer and insisted on meeting in person (I'm in Michichigan so it was only 6 or so hours to meet). Then he couldn't go, had to be his brother. Guy plays in a band local to his region, apparently crosses the border for shows as well. Then he couldn't meet at all because he needed to keep the camera for a job coming up, he was "very sorry" and "I hope you understand" or there abouts. I lost three jobs because I made the mistake of telling clients I was about to acquire a Raven, booked and deposits paid up. In hindsight, he REALLY wanted to ship it to me. Looks like meeting in person wasn't an option for him.

Nail his ass to the wall, Levi.
