  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Still changing...

Lenses become heavier, cameras lighter. This makes a shoulder camera automatically more frontheavy. The centre of rotation (shoulder) is approx. 3 inches behind the eypiece. If we are able to push the EVF to the front as much as is neede to balance the camera on the shoulder we are fine. Although RedOne's EVF is a massive coke bottle with the ET EVF mount we can accomplish that very well.

The new render shows a nice EVF that is very small, but can we move it to the front? Can we re-balance the camera when we change lenses?

Nice render, by the way.

Eyepiece forward?

Eyepiece forward?

Hans makes a very important point. I can't think on any hand held situations where I would want the eyepiece in line with the brain, except when working with very small lenses. The ability to easily slide the eyepiece forward to the front end of the lens would be a very ergo friendly feature. In any case, it is a stunning design.

Jim, since you are doing some cool work here.. Can I ask, do you suppose you could make a module that would also serve as an AC adaptor, and would have those standard 3 prong plugs we use for computers? This would be a great way to power if you were inside and did not want to use a battery.

Personally I have always hated those AC units that have a huge box between two cords.

Jim,

I know you do this a lot more than I do.. If I may make another suggestion, any connectors on top of the camera are sure to be problematic (Looking at my own RED and all the stuff on top as I type this)

please consider putting your attennea on the side and used a right angle connector that we can turn upwards.

You were smart to keep the top of RED clean, I'd keep that approach.

Every time I see something new I feel good. Then I want more and later... feel as if I were being teased. Ohh the humanity!

In theory that`s a great idea - but it sounds likes a potential source for electronic interference, too - and don`t forget that AC units produce substantial heat...

Let me be VERY clear here. You can do WHATEVER you want. Move things around, add things, re-configure to your hearts content. That is a primary message about this program that seems to be missed.

Batteries that pull out from the operator side should leave a nice place to velcro lumpy accessories on the dumb side. I like it !

Batteries can be loaded from either side, neither side... or both sides. and there are plenty of ways to attach stuff everywhere.

Older render but size comparison is right.

As far as the scheduled release, it was always kind of vague to begin with (winter, summer etc.) So now are we looking at those same schedules + 2 months? What would that even be? Or is the release of these cameras completely up in the air? What are your thoughts?
