  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Step, turn & sexy

Something that I have done in the past that works better than trying to get ND to conform to a headlight shape is to spay the lens with some lite tack spray adhesive and while still tacky, put one or two layers of double net down. Gives you 2 to 4 stops of reduction, no color temperature shift and its fast and easy to clean off.

I am sure that there are other tricks that someone else can share for this, but its worked for me.

A little black "Streaks and Tips" spray from the make up department or an expendables shop also works pretty well as a spray on ND... cleans off glass easy, but plastic can be a pain-

Evin, is there any way to get the 2 new videos in a higher resolution file. Perhaps a TIFF or DPX sequence. I would like to open it up in Shake and see what this looks like for real without .h264 involved. I'm seeing way too much noise and compression and I'm anxious to see what this stuff looks like when it's not converted into a lower format. And although the girl is certainly easy on the eyes, I will take anything even if it's a 2 or 3 second clip. I want to see the Red footage a little more purely.

Thanks!
Steve

Re Sun protection thingy.
How does turning the pixels black protect the sensor from the light physically falling on it thru the lens?

Oh and, *very* nice footage btw ;)

You guys are gonna freak when you see what we've been shooting tonight...

Probably something that starts with a P ends with an N and has OR in the middle...

I posted some production stills of yesterdays shoot and included a link to a full res TIFF of the shoulder turn. You can appreciate the depth of field control when you see the location we shot in. Enjoy. BH

Hey Sanjin, what settings are you using in Shake?

Nothing special, very fast and simple, have a look below

shake_set1.jpg

Settings for GenArts Sapphire Plug in>>S-Film_Effects>>scaleCC=0

shake_set2.jpg

Settings for TrueLight Plug in

I found the original to be too soft, but when you CC'd it like that, it's friggin' perfect. Man, that's nice. Very encouraging to see the magic that can be done. I think we're slowly learning how tremendously generous and forgiving this camera is. Love it!!!

Evin is a rock star.

The sun protection is a software on/off feature... its on right now but will be able to be turned off.

Jarred,

What happens when you turn the sun protection off?

Andrew.

I just want to say thanks again guys for posting this footage. I made my purchase 5 days ago. I was going to hold off until the pocket cam because I prefer a smaller/lighter rig, but these images and all the other footage (CTL, etc. ) have really made me think I just need to lift more weights, cowboy up and deal with the bigger cam. Plus Jim was pretty clear the pocket cam won't have or compete with Red One's specs (nor should it). So ultimately, Red One means I'll get in shape and have better images. lol

Best, Mike
