Just a thought... as you guys improve using these rigs, you will definitely get to the point where technology and price will allow you to begin attaching servos to the lenses for remote focusing. This will most likely also add batteries and weight. Yes you can strip the camera down to the bare essentials but this takes time. An efficient rig will be one that can take some weight. I'm personally not interested in a rig that barely makes the threshold.

PROline.

You're probably writing about the Laing M02. The ProLine was carrying 48lbs at the test last Saturday, and also the L'Aigle should be able to carry 26.4lbs.

The L'Aigle test was scheduled for today, but was then canceled by the manufacturer, if I'm not mistaken. Quentin, did you get any updates from them? We would need the same amount of buyers for the L'Aigle as for the ProLine top tier discount. But maybe we can get the lowest tier price from ProLine with only 50+ buyers, which we will probably reach if everyone who was interested in l'Aigle will instead purchase a ProLine T2000.

For those who want to wait until NAB... maybe we can keep the group price valid until NAB. Still would be a pity if everyone is holding out and only a few who need it urgently are ordering. Also, to be honest, I want to finish this project rather soon, since I spent already quite a lot of time on it.

David, can you contact PROline and see if they'll give us the top tier discount if we reach 50?

Understood David. Although i would love to get my own hands on one first, I understand the timetable and I trust the opinions of the other users here and if they are happy with it, than personally I would still be comfortable enough to move forward with whichever the majority decides the model to be, be it L'aigle or Proline. As long as it fits my budget parameters of course ;)

Thanks again for all your hard work on this.

Of course. I wrote Luciano already that we'll probably reach 50+ users. I will post updates on the price and the modifications as soon as I get them.

I wasn't talking about any specific rig as I've already made up my mind. It was more of tip for anyone wondering which way to go. My experience with a previous rig was that I became quite limited when I wasn't able to carry the load after attaching various accessories.

I did cancel the Test, I was supposed to be in Paris today but because my job was delayed I would not be in Paris before the end of march...
Sorry guys !

I edited my prior post. Still thank you for offering your help, Quentin.

As many of you know, I have the Laing and it is great. But after the demo this weekend I want the Proline. So, consider me on the Proline GB list.

Cross post - but here is a tease of the test shots from this weekend.

David - any particular reasons you're now going for the Proline? You've done a lot of work on your Laing, so just really interested to hear what's driving your choice :)

Thicker post for better control, electronics, approx 2x weight rating. With the Laing I can do my own thing, with my slimmed down Scarlet package. Proline can fly any current camera.

All of which based on 41+ GB actually happening.

We still have yet to see the new revised version of the Laing from Vitaly from the comments we gave him, which he said he will get back to us (in 2 or 3 days, his words). Tests from the older eBay M02 Laing/"Came" rig looked positive, especially from its price point, but there are a few things separating it from more professional rigs such as camera weight load capacity, ability to wire more cables, etc like David mentions above. I would still love to hear a solid review about the L'Aigle as well since the scheduled test was unfortunately canceled. It seems like it is a match between these two and the ProLine rig. Competition is always a great thing to improve the manufactures' product, as long as each company respects each other and speaks fairly.

Even the guy who owns a Laing wants to order a PROline. That should tell you all you need to know right there. Heavier rig = better in windy conditions.

Disagree, no matter the weight, they all suck in the wind. A second person needs to hold a double net or other wind break to get a stable shot.

Laing and Proline play at different price points and max loads, I see demand for both. Just like Epic vs Scarlet. At list price the Laing is an amaizing usable product, I just booked two more shoot days with the Laing + Scarlet.

Electronics. One thought on OEM break out boxes vs empty post DIY. It is less costly to pass a cable though the post vs boxes top and bottom. As your looking at 2 connectors per item vs 4 connectors.

I said better in windy conditions, not good. Just better than a lightweight set up. A heavier rig is somewhat more stable.

Yeah...been wondering what is the advantage if any to having a wired post and all these boxes w/connectors on the top and bottom.
Is it just that you might have cables tangle and be unwieldy when taking everything through the post..?

Because Mark V has an open post system that they call Infinity based on an open post and rods for monitor and batteries.

Except heaver rig is also generally larger aera which is acting as a bigger sail, canceling out the weight increase... but I'm not looking to argue. Really all wind is bad, big rig or small, the only fix is someone preventing the wind from hitting the sled.

I made all my cables 2-3x longer than needed. Even with the extra length, wrapping the cables around the base of the post has not been a problem. I'm planning to cut the cabes shorter, once I get my setup finalized.

Saturday photo, I need to work on proper left hand position.
