Sid,

I'm not a Steadicam operator but I was at the test today. I was very impressed with the construction and overall look of the Proline system. We had a side by side with the Proline and the Laing system. I know there will be some footage showing up shortly showing both Systems and interviews with the owners and any mods made to their rigs. I played with the Laing carrying a Scarlet and it felt really good. The Proline had a Red One mounted on it. The Laing/Scarlet rig weighed in at 21lbs and the Proline/RedOne rig was a hefty 48lbs. I had to bail so i didn't get the chance to try the Proline but it looked like loads of fun.

Looks like they're getting things ready if it goes through... Very Impressed with the rig today! Purposely went with a heavier setup to push it... thing is solid. I got tons of video so I'll hopefully have it up here soon. Cool additions in the works for the "REDuser Edition" including red specific lemo connectors in the D/J Box and red colored cables.

Nice meeting you today Dave, got some good stuff with Winters and the Proline guys after you left...

For those who are wondering, the camera itself came in at 26.5lbs, we also had 3 batteries on the sled itself, two smaller ones and a big sucker mounted under the DBox... As to the springs and noise, didn't hear a thing during the testing... no squeaks, chirps or creeks whatsoever.

Got some good stuff off of the Laing, but then again, I wouldn't say its a "True" Laing, because David added a alot of additional modifications (and $) to get it up to the point where it is. And it is a good system, yes, but one of the things I curious about is if it could fly a R1 (as thats what I own), I realized quite quickly that it wasn't gonna happen...

David's rig build:

Even if it were to come with stiffer springs and the other planned/suggested mods, I do foresee other parts in the system coming up short that would need more work to get it able to fly heavier setups (Red1 or Scarlet/Epic with Cine Lens)-- a big one being the gimbal. For light Scarlet use, I'd say the Laing is great, David's been getting some good success off of it...

Having the thicker post on the Proline definitely helped as you're able to have more control. One of the comments I heard is that even though the Proline was more than twice as heavy as the Laing, the gimbal felt smoother and more comfortable....

In fact, true Laing that will be offered for group buy will be better :)
David started modifications from older M-02 design without rods, one like in M-02C today.
It lacked monitor bracket also, had difference is springs (with present M-02) and few other stuff.

Battery angle adjustable mount will be present in offered rig. As well as bubble level on bottom
Plus various other mods, we'll get to discussion soon. Engineers worked hard.

Why you think that it can't fly havier setups?

Btw, gymbal bearings on present Laing M-02 are smoother and have less resistance compared to David design.

ProLine custom arm looks good and from testing it seems like it is good, but why you need whole package from them instead buying original indian FlyCam? It'll be just significantly cheaper to order arm and you'll have one extra arm left :).

Hi Vitaliy, could you please post those modifications in this thread? I'm sure everyone is interested is getting some news about the changes Laing made to their M02 model. Also, if the new model has so many improvements, it would be nice if Laing could ship it to us so that we can test it. Maybe we can discuss on the other thread a new test, maybe done again by Kwan?

I asked you before to not make suggestions as to what we, the members of this group buy, should or should not purchase. Especially since you have a vested interested in Laing. Again, you're welcome to convince us by offering an improved Laing system.

I'll post details in proper time and form, as well as inform all interested members. Do not worry.

Laing won't be providing any free "test" rigs to anyone. Just to be clear. We'll use different approach.

It is not suggestion, it is just simple proposal to members to save good money and get same product. I do not propose them to buy Laing, so no conflict here.

I don't think anyone is asking for a freebie. It would either be a part of the group buy and go to the nearest buyer, or be returned to Laing. What would an alternative means of testing look like?

The price of the vest at Proline is only 560. The sled and the arm are 6.8 and 3.5.

Hi Quentin Im here to resolve your concerns, if the cables plug brakes you don't have to send it back, same as the warranty part's just send me a picture and I'll send you the new part.
you want 2 years warranty?? ok deal you got it!!!
you can pass any cable thru the post in seconds wth our twist of sistem(no tools need it is like open a bottle).
the springs are completely noiseless.
As of right now, the CNC machine and beginning stages of production take place in Argentina, the rest of the manufacturing process will take place in Los Angeles. For the purpose of this group buy, all concerns and problems that may arise will be addressed in L.A., same as any other product made in the United States.
hope this information will clarafy your concern to our company.

It seems that a quite huge majority is preferring the ProLine over the L'Aigle. Would the potential L'Aigle buyers also be interested in the ProLine?

I'll wait for the test of the ProLine to come online to post a new thread about the ProLine purchase.

would be great to get the 80+ numbers for the ProLine.

Would ProLine lower the price if they excluded the monitor?
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a monitor (SmallHD) that can be used to save on costs and get dual use from the gear.

I don't think there's a monitor included. There's a monitor bracket...

The proline looks fantastic but I feel the L'aigle hasn't been getting votes since no one has tested it yet, are there any upcoming hands on with it? I would be interested in the Proline but could only justify the cost if we hit the highest discount tier and even then would hope to test one at NAB first if time allots...

Just a thought... as you guys improve using these rigs, you will definitely get to the point where technology and price will allow you to begin attaching servos to the lenses for remote focusing. This will most likely also add batteries and weight. Yes you can strip the camera down to the bare essentials but this takes time. An efficient rig will be one that can take some weight. I'm personally not interested in a rig that barely makes the threshold.

The L'Aigle test was scheduled for today, but had to be unfortunately canceled by the tester. Quentin, did you get any updates from them? We would need the same amount of buyers for the L'Aigle as for the ProLine top tier discount. But maybe we can get the lowest tier price from ProLine with only 50+ buyers, which we will probably reach if everyone who was interested in l'Aigle will instead purchase a ProLine T2000.

For those who want to wait until NAB... maybe we can keep the group price valid until NAB. Still would be a pity if everyone is holding out and only a few who need it urgently are ordering. Also, to be honest, I want to finish this project rather soon, since I spent already quite a lot of time on it.

EDIT: Test was not canceled by L'Aigle. Sorry for the mistake.
