Hello everybody,
I search a steadicam for my Red One MX.
I haven't a big budget so I would like to buy a second-hand.
What steadicam model can support the weight of a RED ONE?
Do you have advice about choice of steadicam?

best start with your budget and see what your can really afford and then know your weight of the MX fulll configured for your steadicam work and that would give you a reference to the arm's lift capacity then head to the steadicam forum website:http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showforum=9 and look at whats for sale.

There are knock-offs on ebay and other site am sure that can support the weight but there is soo much more to steadicam and clear difference when lets say flying a Tiffen Rig or an MK-V rig to a chinese knock-off. In the end, it is really the best you can afford.

Best,
-JB

Hi Guillaume,
I agree 100% with Jean and Eric, but a proper steadicam workshop answer your question best.

I fly mine on an old Steadicam Provid arm with a SK Sled. Not glamorous but it sure gets the job done. If you can track one down you can sometimes get them real cheap. Best of luck!

A Flyer LE will fly a R1 stripped down. They can be had for $3-4k but you will have to modify it with an HMDI or SDI monitor and cable through the post.

Love the Zephyr - aboiut $10 000 - yes expensive but cameras will come and go, a Steadicam is for life.

Make sure you get training, and practice, practice, practice. Steadicam is VERY hard, but a wonderful craft.

I saw a video with a new steady camera option called MOVi. Works for light cameras, not sure if there is a version for the Epic.

Might be worth a look.

agree on this one also on Jean and Eric, but if you want to get a feeling and not spent 10000. I bought this one (http://zolinger.com/xt2000-steadicam/) a while ago and it works fine with an RED ONE, if you rig it light. But for sure, a Steadicam stays forever..

I bought a used Steadicam brand Master Series rig and I love it.
I got a great deal on it because it was used but it's built like a tank and made to last.
I can fly pretty much any camera set up out there--from a DSLR to a fully loaded Red One or (dare I mention in this forum) Arri Alexa.
Buy quality and used, not cheap and new :)

Hi Heiko, I am also interested in the Zolinger xt2000 to fly my R1, based in your experience, will you recommend it? , is it worth-it? , any advise?
Thanks!

+1 for the Steadicam Master Series Film, you can find a used one for 15-20k

I bought a Glidecam X-22 for the R1 a couple years back and have been extremely happy with it. It will fly a fully loaded R1 nicely. Probably not the rig for a dedicated master steadi op, but nice for getting started and flying bigger cams. Definitely would avoid the Asian knock-off rigs... I've seen a couple and there was a huge difference in quality.
