  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ouch if the delivery schedule gets accelerated due to some dropping out/off!!

I am still trying to get invoices/funds owed in the bank to pay for my StgII !!!

Good news, but bad as I know I have 30 days from the "Shipping" email!!!!

Anyone know someone with loose lending/leasing requirements? :)
 
There are very few companies in this world that will allow you to "receive forgiveness" after breaking a signed agreement.

There certainly would be fewer Red Ones being shipped back to Red. :001_smile:
 
Jarred, thanks for this. It is a wonderfully magnanimous response to a situation that could have turned out quite badly. It is great for all of us including those like myself who despite having to extend ourselves decided to hold on to our beautiful RED ONEs while reaching for the mighty EPIC, because none of us can afford the damage to the community that an internecine fight would have caused. We can now happily lay this to rest and get back to giddy anticipation of THAT email.

We will deal with this on a case-by-case basis. Those that contact us, explain their situation and take care of the the transfer of ownership the correct way, so we can update our records, will receive forgiveness.

It is sometimes not easy to take the high road when things get personal... but we can put this all behind us... as long as this lease-to-own thing ends today.

Definite pluses for both sides, and a great thing for those of us like me and you and many others who are crazy attached to our MXs yet need epic for work, as well.

I mean, Jarred and Jim are clearly appreciative of those of us who love our babies. And they seem to b feeling Christmas-y :-)

Forgiveness can come in many forms. It may just mean that a stay of execution of persona non grata status... But you still lose Stage 2 eligibility. I would not consider it fair to the rest of us if parties were allowed to sell the R1, buy an Epic-M and still get the privilege of preferred status for an Epic-X.

Should buying a R1 grant some the ability to buy multiple Epics before others can buy one? I don't think that was the intent of the program and it may have been a key reason for the restriction in the first place. But what do I know?

I thank you, Jim and the RED team for listening to the customers and understanding the emotional stance behind your post. I know it was difficult for you to post this, knowing the Lease-to-own dealings have been going on for a while now. I'm sure those that have made such deals will thank you tremendously for not only the RED team's forgiveness, but thank you again for giving all of the Stage 2 participants a 2nd chance.

For the record, I had not participated in the lease-to-own dealings, I'm just very pleased with how the RED team has handled this. Once again, RED has never ceased to amaze me by listening to their customers. This is amazing and I'd like everyone to take a majority of this thread with a grain of salt.

RED is the best camera company in the world, and an even better customer service company.

That was precisely my question a few posts back.

No problem at all as long as it does not penalise people who kept their R1.

I think we need a clear procedure, will bring back pure peace :)

The MX sensor is so fantastic - I couldn't imagine selling my #1673. At the time I bought into Stage 2, I estimated my MX Red One would still be working for at least another two years after getting my Epic X. NOW, with new features like adding the SSD, I think I will get a solid THREE years more out of my workhorse. AND, having a backup MX Red One will be what I need to support an Epic package. Lately, I am considering picking up a second Red One MX at the right price.

I always thought the Stage 2 and 3 deals were incredibly generous. NO company does this. Thanks Jim and Red!

It is, by far, the best offer since you ultimately end up with a great studio camera and a more mobile/modular high-speed younger brother. I only wish I had an opportunity to float both systems.

Seems wrong to call Epic the younger brother. Yes its younger, but it more like the more mobile, athletic, smarter offspring of its parent, the Red One.
 
All else aside, RED owes Ketch Rossi an enormous debt of gratitude for everything he has done for RED, everything he has done to build the RED community at RED's benefit and for the many acts of kindness he has shown personally to many of RED's employees and many RED Owners. If there is a side to be taken in all of this, I stand firmly on Ketch's side. He is a consumate, honest, upright professional in every sense of the word and has always operated by the book.

Oh, and Tim Whitcomb has forever earned my respect for his posts in this thread. Tim, if you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Guys,

I am not yet a Red customer, rather I am standing by patiently for an upcoming release date on Scarlet 8X. But I wanted to say after watching this thread with interest... the way Red has resolved this is just one more reason I am in the wings waiting. Class act! Wonder what it would be like if every company treated its customers with such integrity, loyalty, and how can I say it? ... heart?

How so...? Each owner has his own cost basis, upgrades, etc. Given the time horizon involved with each camera, installment sales aspects are one of the few "out of the ordinary" considerations each owner should consult with their tax attorneys.

Not sure what that comment is referring to...?
 
I missed Stage 2 because I've bought my Red One too late but I was so happy with that camera that I've bought an Epic-M and I don't see myself selling one or the other...
Being a Red owner was just a dream couple of years ago and this is the reason why I will try to always keep these two cameras.
People with access to Stage 2 are really lucky and I'm not complaining but I wish I could be one of them.
I think Red is the only brand that take care that much about their customer.

Looks like you are on a path that is being embraced by many.

With the burst of elation exhibited in the posts, sometimes the details can get blurred in peoples minds.

To make sure the message is clear (pls correct me if I misunderstood):

It is not only the lease-to-own, but sale of your executed RED One before accepting delivery of your EPIC that is/has been an issue...

Just because you are taking the high road, those in Stage 2 who sold in advance have a high standard to meet to stay in.
Case-by-case means just that. It is not a blanket amnesty program.

As you have seen from many of the posts, for some of us it wasn't about "following the rules" - it was buying into the spirit of the Stage 2 offer. What a wonderful opportunity for those of us that wanted to KEEP our cameras. Maybe EPIC will steal the attention and shift the thinking, but that story has yet to be written.
 
I'm anxiously awaiting the email from the bomb squad rep for my Epic-X
