Yep, searched forums and found what i believe to be latest information:

"Net price of $19,500 and comes with: 1x S35 MYSTERIUM-X brain with PL mount, 1x 5" LCD, 1x REDMOTE, 1x Side CF Module, 1x Module Adaptor, 1x Base I/O Module, 1x Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVOLT standard batteries, and 1x travel charger. NOTE: Upgrades available for select monitoring options and modules. i.e 1x Base I/O Module can be upgraded to PRO I/O Module by paying price difference. Details as we get closer."

Now that we are getting close to the release date, I've forgotten all of the details and what may have changed: CF for SSD? what other items may or may not be optional, any choices for monitoring upgrade etc...

My direct questions are this:
1. Is or was an LCD included on the stage 2 program?
2. If we had upgraded to MX, was their an additional $1500 credit added to our purchase price on EPIC, therefore lowering price from $19,500 to $18,000?
3. BIG ONE: Now that SSD is here, can RED scrap the CF option or can we elect to go SSD instead of CF? M

.....I have no use for a CF module on my RED ONE MX nor will i have it for EPIC. It'll just be a waste of metal IMO. Has RED made a decision on this and will allow for swap or trade in of CF for SSD? I suspect 90+% of users of EPIC will want the same.....As Jim posted today 4am....old technology, think of tomorrow. CF has never been an option for me at 16gb.

Thanks,
Johnny

good questions, hope answers come soon

I think this is what was originally included in stage 2, so for your first question, LCD is supposed to be included.

1x S35 MYSTERIUM-X brain with PL mount, 1x 5" LCD, 1x REDMOTE, 1x Side CF Module, 1x Module Adaptor, 1x Base I/O Module, 1x Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVOLT standard batteries, and 1x travel charger.

And the credit is for MX upgrade

"RED ONE M-X Upgrade price of $4500 (normally $5750)."

since the cf module is worth 500 and you have the option to upgrade parts for an additional fee, i guess the ssd module will cost 1000 usd more.

what i would like to know is if there will be bundles for storage, power and handles/plates

the latest idea was to delete something from the x bundle and replace it with a sidehandle module since it is common sense that the sidemodule/handle is a must

based on what i did read here ;)

There is no cf module for epic anymore. Ssd is now standard and included in package. Last to my nowledge there will be no price increase for stage 2.

WoW....RED never ceases to amaze.

About the MX upgrade...i know there were several upgrade packages etc....I have two reds. One was upgraded with MX & Rocket bundle for i think $7500 or $8,000---i don't remember. BUT, never at that time was there talk of the discount on the epic for going that route. So, not sure if that meant we got a $1500 discount on the epic for upgrading with that bundle of RR card and MX upgrade. On my second RED, i upgraded to MX and i think i paid $5750....now i can't recall....i had always thought if we were upgrading to MX and keeping our RED's we got an additional $1500 credit when our EPIC's were ready to ship. That said, i just can't recall now what i paid for my second red's MX upgrade.

But is there a quick answer on this....NO CREDIT towards EPIC or YES, CREDIT towards EPIC if you took MX upgrade. Then, what about previous bundle price MX/RR card before mention of the epic upgrade path? Kind of confusing with all the info out there. Would be nice to have a tidy package of exact paths....

Either way I'm pretty sure it was a $1250 discount not $1500.

ok, that makes sense...I don't think it was given at the moment you did the upgrade right? I think if you did the upgrade, you would get an additional $1250 when your EPIC came up....that seems to ring a bell. I think someone mentioned you got your MX upgrade for $4500.....but that did not sound right. I think you actually got credit when you paid $5750 and the credit was used for epic of $1250....if i'm wrong, feel free to correct me. But that now sounds right.
thanks.....

Do you have a quote for that?

.....Yeah, would be nice to know that is what was said. I sure don't remember it, but so many threads on all the different stage option.....quote link??

Last I heard is they had dropped the SSD module price from $1,500 to $1,000, not that it was free.

The CF module was never free on the R1.

Do you have a quote for that?

No, I think there isn't one...

What has been discussed is to make the SSD the default, but what impact that will have on price, has not been established AFAIK.

Also Deanan has at least twice said that the CF program is not dropped, but that the specific 64GB CF card they worked on has been ditched.

Again:
AFAIK

Cheers

The side and rear SSD recording modules are available first.. in fact the Side SSD is the standard side module, we will not be making a side CF module for Epic. Don't worry though, there is an SSD adapter that turns CF cards into an SSD mag so you can still use all your CF cards in either the side SSD or read SSD modules.

EPIC without SSD doesn't make sense. So do we have to pay about $2,000 more for Stage 2 package or is it to early to ask this question?

Too early... we are likely to price the SSD module the same as the CF module, but you'll need to buy some media. You don't have to if you want to shoot 5K @ 24fps to CF cards. But that is about all the CF cards can do. Up the frame rate and you are looking for trouble.

Jim

I'm sure we all know there will be no CF module for Epic (But there will be for scarlett), so i think its safe to assume stage two will arrive with ssd module as standard. only thing we dont really know is if there will be a price increase (upgrade price) in stage two to compensate. IF they do indeed price the ssd module the same as CF module would've been we won't have to worry about any difference in price of stage two, just the media or cf adaptor we'll have to buy:-P I recall either Jim or Jarred saying that the change will be 'in our favor' or something to that effect.

The CF module was never free on the R1.

It wasn't free then, but there wasnt a stage 2 package deal for the R1 either:-P could've been but i never heard about it:-) once Epic gets to stage 4 the SSD is an optional module you have to pay for:-)

I can confirm that if you are stage 2 and if you have upgraded your RED ONE to MX then there is a 1250.00 credit applied to your epic purchase. I confirmed this with RED just about two weeks ago.

So 19500-1250 = 18,250 for stage 2 package. INSANE.

That's a steal...when you think about it, considering the R1 was 17.5K without a side CF module.

ssd module was stated as 2500USD for Epic.

That was to be for an SSD module that fit on the back of the camera similar to an I/0 module or battery module - in addition to the standard side CF module that was to be included. Now that the side CF has become the side SSD module (with CF to be supported on the SSD module via an optional accessory adapter) it doesn't seem like there needs to be a price increase given that the 1.8" SSD and CF blocks for the RED station are both priced at $250 indicates there isn't much of a cost difference.

BTW presumably there will still be a rear SSD module eventually for those that might want to have additional capacity (maybe hot swap) or wish to remove the side module for 2 camera side by side 3D, etc.

Actually, the Side SSD was $2500 originally and the rear module was $1500. Everything subject to change...

I still expect the Side SSD module to add $1500 to the price even considering it is replacing the CF module.

Where do you get the side SSD originally price - I don't remember it on the original Oct 30,2009 epic-x deal or before the deposit deadline in May. Regardless, that $2500 would seem to be because the side module (regardless of storage format) is more expensive because of the various connectors, switches, etc. - please explain where you see the significant cost difference between a side CF and a side SSD?

If a 1.8" SSD red station module is $250 and a red station cf module CF module is $250 it suggests that connector and electronic interface costs are essentially the same. Why would that cost be any different on the side module? And how would you justify that increase to people that have had $5000 deposits on the package for 9 months or more?

Edit: Oct 30 module prices pic added, and stage 2 from the clarification:
