By delete all the files, I meant including the mag id files, not just the R3D clips. Without the mag id files, the camera sees an unformatted RedMag, which forces a camera format before use.

Yes the request on set was to confirm the Camera op that the mag requires formatting and that it has no files.

I've done this before and it's a neat trick. Just an extra layer of security for whoever's formatting the mags. I'd love to have a way to do it (perhaps through the watchdog) more officially, so when the mag is put into the camera you get a dialog that says "This magazine has been cleared and is ready to format" or something to that effect.
