  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I would take an Epic camera but I don't think Santa can deliver.

So instead I'll be looking under the tree for SSD!

I have some questions about SSD for Red One.

Is the SSD module a "send in" conversion like MX or can you convert it over yourself?

There's no going back to CF after that is there?

Is there a limit to the rewritability of SSD drives? Can we get close to it? What happens if we do?

Will 256gb drives be available immediately or will they come out a bit later?

Can we upgrade the magazines as larger media becomes available?

Any package deals for the module, drives and the station?

When can we make a deposit?

R1 SSD module is user replaceable and you can switch back to the CF side module anytime.

We monitor the SSDs health/wear to provide feedback on camera.

64s, 128s, and 256s available at the same time.

The magazines themselves aren't upgradeable but we expect higher capacities.
 
Ian you read my mind, Besides my two front teeth I would love to get the ssd module and drives for christmas! whadda ya say Ol' Saint Jannard?
 
Agreed Ian, Deanan when will the RED Station 1.8" component be ready and is there another approved way to retrieve the data if thats not avail at shipping time?

Also will the CF to SSD adapter be shipping same time as R1 module?

my wife wants her two front teeth and my daughter wants a hippopotamus... We can't all get what we want.

Yeah, SSDs would be nice, but I'm going to hold my breath for EPIC-M in January. It comes with 4 of those SSD things, ya know. Although, I'm pretty sure the M's will be gobbled up before my customer number comes up on screen, but hey... Can always dream. EPIC-M might be a faster route to a bomb EVF too....

REDstations will be ready at the same time as the modules. It makes sense to order them together along with the mags.

CF to SSD will follow after.

Cool. Gotta have the 1.8" Station to offload the module anyway. :)
