  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SSD case

Good idea, I was wondering what I was going to use, I'm sure Pelican is already working on a specific SSD case.

i fit 4 in there...it is perfect.

OtterBox 2000 Waterproof Universal Case is pretty good too. Has a touch more room on the inside vs. the Pelican 1015 for around the SSDs, but not as deep. It holds two of them (possibly 3, but I don't have 3 to test with just yet) and seems to be more waterproof -- rated to 100ft. Comes in a few colors.... Anyway, have to give a shout out to my local Colorado boys that make some darn good cases.

Im using this Lowe Pro Volta 20...its a perfect fit.
I think a $1000-$2000+ SSD deserves an individual case for each drive. Best Buy

also has a belt loop and could hold 3 ssd's

Rich, did you see this? (announced last night):

http://www.red.com/store/media/product/redmag-case-12-pack

Yes, it is very bitchen, I love the clear lid and anti-static foam!

I think it is a great way for my AC's to hold the cards near camera but when the cards travel to the media station from set the 12pack is way too big for one or two cards traveling...

It would be killer to have one that is a 2 card clear case with the anti-static foam... Or better yet, a big case with a few satelite travelers so you can easily account for all the cards at the end of the day...

Prost,
Rich

We purchased and auditioned three candidates for SSD individual cases:

1) Pelican 1010 (around $20 with foam insert)
2) Krussell iphone 4 leather case ($12.99)
3) Proporta aluminum lined leather case for iphone 4 ($29.99)

We were looking for something small enough to slip in your pocket but still providing protection until it arrived at the DIT station or whatever. Waterproof was not a criteria.

The Proporta won. The fit was best on the Proporta (very snug) with an elegant little strap that ejected the SSD out of the case and it was re-enforced with aluminum. Most expensive, but all around the best solution.

The Pelican was too big, the Krussel too loose and flimsy overall

The original Pelican card cases with the foam insert removed would work with a little tweaking, but then you lose the foam padding and they are bigger than the Proporta.

We also got the Red four-case as well which provides the most protection for storage or shipping if out of the camera case. It can also be used at the DIT station.

We just received our RED 4 SSD case and its a thing of beauty. Same exact physical dimensions (same case manufacturer) as the Bomb EVF we received (finally!!) but with a clear lid so you can see how many are in there. Anti-static foam, has a seal around the lid so I assume it's water "resistant" at least.

Very nice.
