  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Southland Cancelled?

The cheap reality shows reign because intelligent literate viewers who enjoy well written and produced dramas don't watch network TV anymore. The networks get the viewers they cater to when they produce cheap junk and they cater to the viewers the ratings say are watching. It is an endless downward spiral into a black hole.

I despise format television as it is today...apart from QI which is great...

We got picked up by TNT today, folks. Looks like the episodes we shot [season 1 and 2] will air starting in January. Depending on ratings, they'll start production back up at that time.

Congrats Brook, and the rest of the crew!

Good deal Brook! I'm sure you and the rest of the crew are happy to hear that.

Now, if I may, and anyone feels like helping out a guy who doesn't entirely understand the business side of things: why does one network pick up a show that another has cancelled? Does TNT just have a lower rating they need to achieve to make a profit compared to NBC, or is it more complicated than that? I'm in film school right now on a cinematography track, and, in a perfect world all I'd ever do is shoot, but I know that the more I understand about the business side, the better off I'll be when it comes time to start finding jobs. Anyway, thanks!
Peace,

-Harry

If the deal is right, someone like TNT gets some shows already in the can and then can test the waters with their audience, see if it hits, then pick up the tab to produce more shows. It's a numbers game. Could work out nicely for TNT if the numbers work in their favor.

It's amazing how far NBC has fallen. They were on the top of their game in the 90s, but now they produce stinker after stinker while good shows get the can.
